The best preserved ancient greek temple and a marvel to visit. A wonderful location for a Sunday morning stroll
This was one of the most striking of the ancient sites. From the hillside above it looks almost like a new building; it is so pristine and well maintained. The entire gounds of Agora and the temple are refreshing after visitng the Acropolis as they are less crowded and you can really appreciate the beutfy of the place.
The carvings/friezes have such wonderful detail. It was nice to see and walk closely to a virtually intact structure of this sort...one can only imagine the grandeur of the Temple of Olympian Zeus or the Parthenon if they were still intact. The surrounding foliage adds to the delightful experience of discovering ancient Greece.
The Greek agora is great for all types of visitor there are the remains of buildings, the reconstructed of an a building and then the complete temple of hephaestus which is remarkable. It allows you to imagine the grandeur of the rest of the site. Nestled among the modern city at the side of the acropolis I had a lovely time exploring the area. Good value as part of the €12 ticket for the main ancient sites of the city.
This temple is visible from the Acropolis, but must be visited as there is so much more to see close up. The whole park gives a good idea of the ancient city of Athens. Then backing this impression up is the reconstruction of the ancient city. Get there early in the day as it closes very (too) early at 15:00
If you go to Agora then it is worthwhile to visit this best preserved temple in Athens dedicated tothe God of Fire Hephaestous .
Visit the Agora and walk the streets of the Ancient Philosophers Socrates and Plato, head up the hill to Hephaestus' Temple one of the best preserved buildings from the Ancient times.
Great place to amble through. Fascinating with lovely views over Athens. Fabulous place to get a feel of how Athens was, and the Temple is amazing too, the fact it's still standing is amazing
