We were early so we enjoyed the basilica without the crowds that st Francis basilica had. I love St. Claire's story so I loved visiting the basilica. You cannot visit Assisi and miss this one. Beautiful experience.

Each Basilica that you visit seems to be more lovely than the previous one. You can feel the history when you step into these monuments and it really is something everyone who can, should experience in their lifetime. A very lovely village and they are known for their hand embroidered garments. You don't want to miss Assisi.

It's a small church, but its special place because contains the remains of Saint Clare. It's a quiet e peaceful place.

This place speaks of the ideal of a woman named Clare . In her youth, she followed the teachings of st. Francis to obey God's will to dedicate her life in His service of prayer and fasting . Again, this place is actually identical in structure with that of the basilica of st. Francis . St Clare had been the example of courage amidst all odds. She who had been born of great wealth had lived poverty in concordance with that of St. Francis . Her basilica spoke of her obedience and appreciation of life of poverty and prayer. You could not miss this one, they are opposite sides of the basilica of at. Francis! Go and be spirally renewed!

The priest in Santa Chiara allowed us to take pictures inside and there was no charge to enter.

Santa Chiara Basilica is so beautiful. Although the exterior is rather plain in comparison to Saint Francis Basilica, inside it is just as beautiful. The church surrounds with you with history and inspirational reflection!! We were emotionally touched !!

Visiting Assisi means you have to feel the impact of both St. Francis and St. Clare and the one way to do that is to visit the two churches that bear their name, and learn the historical significance. The church is very peaceful. Saying a prayer here is a privilege.

This beautiful church has such an air of the sacred. There were lilies at the alter and the fragrance wafted throughout. The peace, the tranquility, the spirituality were at once palpable and unforgettable.

This church houses the body (bones) of St.Clare, the friend and devotee of St.Francis. Also, you will find here the large ancient cross that had been in the little church where St. Francis prayed and heard the voice of Jesus speak to him telling him to repair his church. In the downstairs area you will find relics of both Saints such as their clothing, the hair of St Clare that had been cut off by St Francis and other precious relics. Her remains are also on display there in a glass case. A highly venerated place for Catholics and Christians. The church is lovely and you will not regret spending some time there.

Well worth a visit, this is the church dedicated to one of St. Francis' most faithful and loyal followers, and one who was made a saint with great speed. The crypt is worth visiting for its artifacts, with notes in English
