This castle has a fantastic history wich is told on tours in many languages. Authentically restored and very beautiful. Prices very reasonable and well worth it. Plus there are many attractions nearby with great hiking adventures.
For the nature lovers. Sandstone rock formations are unusual and unique, the views are beautiful. It is a paradise for rock climbers or just people out for a nice long walk. The trails are well marked and when we were there, it was not overrun by tourists. Just one of many possibilities for a day trip out of Prague. Bohemian Paradise (Cesky Raj) is definitely worth a visit.
Kost means bone but this castle is really made of tons of rock and stone. It´ s situated in "Czech Paradise", which is an amazing region full of natural and historical monuments.
Very excited to walk around my first Czech Castle.Set in beautiful surroundings and countryside. You can only walk around the castle with an excursion and guide. We were the only couple on the tour my husband speaks Czech but I dont, The guide didnt even introduce himself or Welcome us to the tour which I found unprofessional, i found his body language disengaging and not bothered. My husband assured me that he had good knowledge so I guess I will just have to trust him on that one! I was thrusted a photocopied English Guide in a cheap plastic folder (which you have to give back) and had to guess what I was looking at as the guide doesnt let you know which section you are in which I found really irritating unless you are Czech! So I guess the tour is great if you are Czech or speak Czech and very poor if you dont.
Visit of the castle was fine. After seing the castle, we enjoyed the walk through Plakanek valley ( Udoli Plakanek) and did some geocaching.Interesting shape of the tower = none of 4 angles is in 90 degrees- as the protection against canonballs´ hits ...
The castle is beautiful and well worth seeing. I did not arrange for the tour, so I am not clear if English language tours are available, but we ended up on a Czech tour. We had English language sheets, but it is a LONG tour, and there is a lot of standing around if you don't understand what you are listening to.
This is a well preserved castle, with guided tours Next to that the area around the astle invites for a walk, there a some different wals available.Tours van be done with guides in different languages, also different motives.Bottom line nice location to spent a day
Reccomend in spring or summer, its beautyfull countryside and if you go in the weekend time, you have to chance to moved in the medival century.
Don´t miss the opportunity to visit this castle, the place, where the fairytales have often been filmed. I think, one of the largest castles in the Czech republic, you can see there old pictures, guns. We liked old kitchen and very nice cellars there.
Another beautiful castle with lots of history. Many of the poor people who worked in the castle lived in caves in the nearby hills, on the other side of the river. We went and investigated this area and enjoyed the walk.
