Nice paved trail that is well maintained. Our hotel was right next to it so we made use of it during our stay. It is a popular trail with lots of runners and bikers. I will say that if you're nervous about the homeless, we did see some tents near the river in one spot as well as under a bridge but we were not bothered even when walking the dogs at night.
Hearing sounds of rushing water and watching the river run through is simply breathtaking. Love watching the university runners, bikers and birds all frolick. You are close to town, yet deeply immersed in nature.
This is a beautiful and well maintained, paved path along the river. It is multi use and everyone is very friendly whether walking, running or riding bikes. Eugene is very "bike friendly" so these paths connect with bike paths along streets so that you have miles and miles of outdoor enjoyment. Couple the path with the parks and there is something for everyone!
the river trail is part of an extensive bike trail, off street, in the Eugene and springfield area. follow along the river on both sides with dedicated bike bridges to cross the Willamette. one can connect with the Amazon trail out to the west of Eugene. plenty of places to stop and refresh, along with some bike shops right along the trail.
Walking this paved trail is a must do when in the Eugene area. You wander parallel to the Willamette rive and wind through parks, fields, the rose gardens and more. This is a fun way to spend a relaxing couple of hours in the area. Highly recommended.
I live a block away from the Willamette River Bike Path and have walked on it everyday for years. Doesn't matter the season, it's a beautiful place to walk by yourself, with friends, children or dogs, run, bike, or just sit and watch the river. The path is 30+ miles through parks, very close to the University of Oregon and miles of beautiful scenery. A very special part of Eugene.
Even a beginner can navigate this nearly flat terrain for a relaxing bike ride along the river. The trail has many access points for parking and starting your ride and the city of Eugene has biking maps which show access. Wonderful in all seasons, and you can fish along the way in season if you desire ( trout and steelhead) Watch out for joggers and walkers as they share the road. One of the most scenic rivers in the US....and easy access from Eugene to Springfield. Beware however at dusk or dark, as some un-desireables can and will be along the path especially in areas with trees. Caution at night is always critical!!!
A beautifully maintained trail system. The river is gorgeous and the path is wide and flat. Bikes, walkers, runners, dogs, strollers, it's packed with people most of the time. Some sketchy vagrants to deal with in some stretches, but mostly just a great place to run or bike.
The system ran all through town with bike friendly streets too. The system also runs around wetlands and a water system called Amazon creek.
Well maintained- from Rose Garden to Riverviews. Spend a few hours to enjoy the beauty of the Willamette River.
