Lower ground is food and grocery , you can sample some free tasting of some of the food, dessert and tea here , bought some Japanese brands here like Jill Stuart cosmetics , Burberry black label , Samantha thavasa bag , it so happens they are having sale and we are able to get our vat tax refund here , it's a pleasurable place to shop !
I've visited Daimaru every time I visited Hong Kong in the past, and I love the basement floor selling all sort of food stuff, from seafood, to snacks, to candies, cookies, fruits, etc. This time, I was able to experience the real original Daimaru in Japan. I love the colorful presentation of the food, and the freshness and quality of each one. I love the variety, it's just simply overwhelming. I also love that they allow you to taste the food before you buy, or even if you don't buy :-) I love trying stuff even to find out that I don't like it, but at least I've tried, so for me, it's a really a great food adventure.I also love their office/school supplies, gift and home departments, which are on the top floors. When I travel, I like to go to find cute little stuff and gift items, on top of the usual popular souvenirs - things I find unique or special because I can't get them back home. I could spend hours here if not for having limited time. The rest of the departments are the typical ones, so I usually just skip that.
I am amazed and surprise with great varieties of local sushimi, sushi, japanese pastries, Chinese bun, desert, tea to cold drinks on 7 th floor. Lots of sampling at no charge before you purchase. Opposite side of the food mall is Products on Sale, such as Japanese tea cups, aprons, unique kitchen accessories....for souveniors.
I mean, the food halls in big malls in japan are iconic places to visit both for locals and foreigners alikeDaimaru occupies a central locale in the largest city of Hokkaido so it's inherent popularity but unfortunately it's actually quite a small food hall when compared to Hankyu in Ueda, Osaka for example so I wasn't thrilled. Of course Fruitscake Factory, Ishiya, Royce, Mori Moto are more local yet popular overseas can be foundIt's an ok place to visitMore centrally located near Odori is Mitsukoshi and Parco
Definitely well locatedNext to the jr station, rather new and fresh building with a high ceiling ground floorIt has most of the luxury brands such as Hermes BULGARI Cartier Chanel and so onFood floor on the 7th floor will not disappoint youA real good place for shopping !!
