We went early morning and it was so peaceful sitting drinking the home made lemonade at the watermill restaurant looking at the amazing views across the hillside down to the sea. The little church is lovely and there are lots of little stalls selling local crafts, honey, cinnamon syrup and olive oil. So glad we found this place a little heaven on earth. We did some shopping and just relaxed there under the trees. It starts to get busy around lunch time so glad we went in the morning.
If you want to include some romance in your stay in Kos you should definately come to Zia mountain for an awesome, unique sunset! Planty of taverns, cafes with cute balconies will provide you with fantastic view on it from above :) Really beautiful scenery! Lots of souvenir shops, narrow streets, and the village as a whole capture you and you walking and walking around and don't want to go :)I'm impressed. Best pics of sunsent are guaranteed!
Small mountain village in the middle of Kos, famous for the sunset view. I don't recommend to drive there on your own at night, road curves are sometimes unsafe, road itself is steep, of course there's no signage at all, and no, don't listen to the locals, they drive like mad. Village itself is not a big deal. But, don't miss the natural park, not so much for the wildlife (it is limited, and I wonder if they have the licence to hold animals like that) as for the magnificent view on top of it, that is really worth 3 euros.
The guides will say the village has sold its soul to tourism! A quaint hillside village with all tourist shops that you would want. Some great food stops with outstanding views. Went for lunchtime, didn't want to sunset tour as road is well winedy! One of those places to do a couple hours. Drove up from Mamari took about 20 mins.
Zia village is on a mountain about 400 m above sea level. It is reached by bus from Kos City-about 25 minutes ride ,costs 2E. The bus claimbs up on a narrow ,curved road.In the village there are many tourist shops, caffes and restaurants. There are nature reserve and an old blue and white church and old houses on a hill. As the village is located high there is a beautiful panoramic view on Aspendos valley below from one side and on mountain Dikteos on the other side.I was told that watching sunset from Zia is very nice.
We rented a car and decided to head to zia from marmari and The views are just amazing .. There ISnt alot of animals but its a beautiful place to take Along a picnic and have there .. Theres a Park for The kids and you can chill Back and have a drink while they play :)
I love this place. It's certainly away from the hustle and bustle and gives you a real taste of greece! The locals live up in the mountains and get by. No main shop with fruit, veg etc... This is why I Love it. For sure the little zia has become a 'tourist attraction' with a handful of restaurants, and shops. But it's beautiful looking over the mountains and the views are amazing. Im yet to see sunset sitting in one of the lovely rooftop restaurants. This I will do next time!
We took a bus from Kos Town (2e).A beatiful place to spend a day. Zia village has a fish spa, I can highly recommend that.A must see place.
It was nice to walk around with children and have a look at local flora & fauna. Finding a parking place can be a bit difficult. Great views!
Went to Zia to watch the sunset but decided to go up to the park to watch it instead as to busy in the village and wasn't disappointed . Fantastic view of the sunset , they do snacks there and a great frappe . If you want a great view of the sunset its the place to go.
