Exceptional ruins. We were fortunate and the weather was cloudy but dry. The sights and scenery are spectacular. Also keep your eyes out for the very rare Scicilian goats.
The Valle of the Templi outside Agrigento does not disappoint. Spend a half day or even a fiull day strolling among the greek and roman runs and reconstructions. delightful.
One of the wonders of this world. A bit of a walk, but with all that well preserved history, you won't even feel.
Spent 4 hours walking around, it is magnificent! Stayed at the hotel Villa Athena, so got the full lit up night view as well. A must do!
This temple is the most complete of the several in the area and it's location is quite spectacular--perched on a hill overlooking the city and the sea. Well worth a visit to Agrigento for this site alone!
It was raining the day we were here and it was still an amazing visit. We heard the developed area around the temples diminished the experience, but this was not the case for us. The condition of the temples more than makes up for the surrounding area.
Why have so many Greek temples fallen to the action of earthquakes, and the Concord Temple still stands sound? No one really knows, but it might have something to do with a clay layer under the rock that acts like a shock absorber. In any event, it is a beautiful and elegant structure that will strike you at the core of your imagination.
This is most complete temple and is in a stunning position on a high ridge. The setting is superb, blue sea in the distance and surrounded by Sicilan countryside.
What can you say about temples that are thousands of years old and still standing. We love history and were in awe of these temples.
