Keem bay is a must visit if you are in the Achill Island area. It is not just a beautiful, sheltered beach, but great snorkelling area and sensational walks on the hills surrounding the bay.Highly recommended.
This is a beautiful little beach with a stunning and kinda scary drive to get to it. When the sun shines you could be in any of the exotic beaches in the world. Fine, pale sand that continues out into the sea. If you go to the west of Ireland and have the time, the view onto the beach is well worth the trip.
A beautiful breathtaking area. A wonderful beach tucked away in a cove, surrounded by superb mountains. You are exposed to amazing views with constantly changing colours and so peaceful!
A bit of a struggle on a bike but well worth it for the scenery. Toilets could be nearer the beach. Lots to do with kayaking, snorkling, swimming and climbing.Worth bringing a wind breaker and a flask of coffee as there is little in the way of amenities but you won't want to leave.
Keem Bay is a definite " must see " for any visitor to Achill Island. The views on the drive to the bay are out of this world and the beach is lovely, usually pretty deserted and very clean. There are plenty of places to have a picnic but make sure to bring your own food as there are no shops or cafes here. A stay on Achill Island would not be complete without a visit here.
Keen bay is beautiful it feels like you are on the edge of the world and the remote spot is so private
It has to be one the most beautiful beaches in the world. It is a must see if you are on the west Coast.
Hidden away but not to far from civilisation lies Keem Beach. Nestled between cliffs it's views are serene.Descending to the beach you will be captured by striking scenery so make sure and bring your camera. If you like a late evening swim, this is when the beach is at it's most haunting but also when the solace will surprise you. It's nothing like you will expect. Especially of a beach in Ireland. A must to see. I can't wait to get back.
The weather was particularly changeable on the morning we visited Keem Bay and while it seemed like the rest of the Island was covered by dark clouds. Keem Bay was drenched in hot sunshine, it felt like Summer again. Keem Bay is a beautiful peaceful bay. We didn't avail of watersports, we walked the beach, climbed rocks, enjoyed the view of the Atlantic ocean, the rugged coastline, the gorgeous little arch bridge with the stream running under it and into ocean, we were surrounded by mountains. Being nature lovers we were stunned into a peaceful silence as we admired the absolute beauty of Keem Bay. I was reminded of the respect nature deserves on my visit to Keem Bay. Unspoilt, uncommercial besides a mobile van where we got coffee and snacks. An absolute, and quite literally, breath of fresh Atlantic air. Watch out for the beautiful wild flowers. Bring appropriate clothes and footwear - rain jacket, hat, footwear with grips and a back pack and water. You may be tempted to climb a mountain which overlook the bay so best to be prepared rather than disappointed. August 2014
It was a beautiful (albeit crazy) drive, and well worth it to see just how beautiful this area is! Definitely coming back again!
