Alanya Castle, red tower has fabulous views of the bay and surrounding areas - you have to judge whether the views make the long walk up to the castle worthwhile - the catle is mainly ruins - there are two separate sites which are covered by the cost of a single ticket (15TL) - however the second site is another long trek - in both sites, the outer walls are in place and some of the original structures but there is little to maintain the interest for longer than an hour. Have to say that we cheated and hired one of the many taxis sat at the bottom of the hill - they will drive you up the hill - to both sites and bring you back - or just take you one way - walking back down is a good option!
View from Alanya Castle is something you will never forget. It too hot in summer to go uphill on foot. But there is a bus line that takes you all the way to the top.
All to like. Incredible to imagine how it was built as the climb to it is 4 kilometers long up a very steep hill. Very imposing from the beach and town and makes a great photograph , especially in the evening. Excellent views from the castle.
We went to the Castle and watched the sunset. A local taxi driver took us and showed us around the grounds of the castle which was lovely! Stunning views. Walkable distance from the hotel too.
The Alanya castle is a set of charming ruins mounting over Alanya city. It's a bit expensive to access, and eating and shopping in the area surrounding it is also pricy, but visiting the castle is interesting and will teach you a bit of Turkish history and give you the chance to enjoy a 360 degree view of Alanya.
Nice view all around, smell of pine trees and flowers, friendly people , living there... P.S. nice and warm hand made socks! buying every time for myself, my family members and friends.
Amazing views from top.But walkways unsafe and in need of repairs. Very little info on history of castle ectWorth it for the view but don't expect much more
i hired a taxi from the entrance of damlatas cave to the historical castle on the mountain.i was amazed when the driver Mr. ufuk told me that he needs 2 minutes to explain something to me,then he showed me the maps of the location of the castle and he told me if i just up there ,i will pay 6 $ entrance fees to see only one point of view while if i agreed to his offer which is more than one hour tour of the price of 20 USD ,he can take me to see all the hidden nice places of the castle which are nobody konws about them except the locals.i agreed to do the tour.and it was very good decision .he took me to multiple view points of the castle overlooking the sea ,the city of alanya ,the red tower , harbour and the eastern side beach.he also took me to a historical 800 years old small mosque. the best thing was this point of the wall where you throw a stone to the sea and it will come back to the rocks because of some air currents gap in this area.very weird and fantastic phenomenon.if you go there call ufuk he is a professional guide speaking english ,german and turkish languages.his email address is ankufukaly@hotmail.com
Lovely place go with your love one see when sun go down and enjoy great view above sweet Alanya <3 On winter time it might be cold if its windy.
Well, this is definitely the best place in Alanya. The view from there is simply unforgettable.First of all get a bus from the center and get on top. There is a castle there with some picturesque views. But the best part is on the way down. I suggest to go back by foot, at least half of the way. On a way down you will see some Turkish village houses. Also you will reach a platform that has a spectacular view which is even better than from the top a castle. From that platform you can easily get a bus to the center.
