Okay this is family owned which makes it incredible, The signs outside make it even better, and there are a ton of different kinds of fish. The last reviewer nailed it when they said it was set up sort of like a pet store, but with more information on each of the fish. There were things I'd probably never get to see at other aquariums and I got pretty close to a shark and an alligator. I would absolutely recommend that people stop here, it's got everything you really want from a basic aquarium tons of different fish, and interesting facts.
When something is $8 you don't expect much. They did have some great displays and beautiful creatures on site. I just thought there would be more though. Overall a quick little attraction.
What a great place! We drove by it on our way into Alex Bay (in our hurry to get on the tour we wanted with Uncle Sam's), but made sure to stop by on our way out, after being deeply disappointed in the decline of Alex Bay. The owners were friendly and very informative, more than happy to answer any questions you may have about ANYTHING pertaining to the area! It was on his recommendation that we visited Clayton, and loved it. It's true that it's a smaller aquarium than say, Boston or Mystic, CT, but you get more than your money's worth. They have a touch tank (very cool, even for us grownups!), nurse sharks, barracudas, and two (TWO!) American Alligators - Big Al and Little Al (my personal favorites). The information they provide on each fish is both factual and anecdotal - there were so many funny little stories about the particular fish and their unique personalities and characteristics. We left feeling like we knew the animals a bit, which is something that you don't often get from a larger aquarium. We highly recommend it, especially for families looking for safe and fun activities to do with their kids.
Oh man awesome place. Great little attraction. Spent time talking to the owner. He truly does it because he loves it.
The aquarium is small, but neatly kept. There is a large variety of unusual fish and marine life to be seen. We were there just before the tourist season begins and my wife and I were the only two in the place. We met the two owners and they talked to us for nearly 15 minutes, they were so very friendly. You can tell this aquarium is a labor of love. It will only take 45 - 60 minutes to view the exhibit, but it is well worth the time.
Wow! What a great surprise this little gem was! It looks small, but it's much bigger then you think. The owners are very sweet and informative. You can tell they really care for the aqua animals they have in their zoo. I have been to many zoos, and aquariums, and I can tell you, that there were many fish/water animals in this place that I have never ever seen before. Very awesome! Owners also gave us information about the area and enjoyed talking to the owner. If we ever come back to the area, we will be stopping again!
The Aqua Zoo is a must see aquarium if you're in the Alexandria Bay area. It's packed full of interesting aquatic creatures from around the planet. Each creature is accompanied by interesting facts. The Aqua Zoo is clean and well-kept. It takes about 1 hour to navigate your way through the exhibits. Our 10 month old even enjoyed it! Stop by and see the creatures!
They have all these sharks and cool fish. I go there every year! So much fun! I couldn't have ever seen a better taken care of, and loved aquarium!
We took our 6 year old grandson and he is still talking about it! You are able to touch a star fish and there are rooms fill of all kinds of fish. He also loved seeing the alligators and seeing the bass fish he caught earlier that day. The staff will answer any questions you may have and you can tell it is their passion. Wish they had a little more interaction, but with the price of admission.
Some changes since last visit expected more though it was still neat to see what they had for Fish and alligators. Very inexpensive and enjoyable.. Take your time and look closer or you will miss out many species are missed by the ones that rush through take your time they do not hurry you through. they will answer any questions and visit.
