Ok - we drove over 500 miles from central Texas to go snow tubing, and this place served its purpose fairly well. We got lucky and the day before there was a solid snow storm. Like other reviews said - be sure to get there early. Ruidoso traffic seems like it can get really bad. We arrived around 11:15 and had wait about 25 minutes in to get tickets. Once in, the lines were not too bad. The runs seemed safe and have a good pace - not too fast or slow. My daughters are 9 and 12 and the loved it especially the 12 year old. 3 hours was enough time. There is also a place to place in the snow to the left of the slopes. Since we don't get snow like this, it was worth the experience.
I thought I would be able to go down a great big wide hill however I wanted. But they have people at the top of each shoot and you ride down the shoot and then get back in line. The way they do it is definitely safer so I understand, but it wasn't as much fun as it could have been. It's also kind of pricey for only three hours. But the food in the trailers at the bottom of the hill was excellent. We had the pizza and roasted corn. Yum!
Long lines everywhere...ticket window, tube lines and food. The toddler slope was fun for my 3 year old. My husband and I enjoyed the other four slope but we started losing interested after waiting in the long line and freezing. The zip-line is a joke.
Enjoyed snow tubing with the family at Christmas. Not much walking, super speedy rides down the mountain. No lines in the morning. Definitely worth your time!
This place is awesome, granted I got the off season rates. Well worth it.This has a couple a small area for the very small kiddies very convenient for the parents to keep their eye on their little one. For bigger young kids, they have two beginning but fun inner tubing courses with their own walk on mechanical tube lift that takes the participants automatically up to the courses; they also have a beginner's zipline (for those that want to try the bare minimum, it has a separate charge). For all others, they have four awesome advanced courses that all hand to foot linking so that many can go together down a steep slope in 1 shot (fun stuff). The advanced courses also have their own walk on mechanical tube lift that takes the participants automatically up to the courses. Try it! One very fun alternative for those that don't want to do skiing.
Hi,Thank you for your recent comments. I would however like to know what you found misleading on our web site? We do not charge for general admission to the park, nor do we charge adults assisting their young children in our Kidz Korral. We also clearly point out that we are extremely busy during the holiday periods and that you will experience long wait times and lines. I would also like to point out that from approximately 10:30 am until 3:00 pm on 12/25, 26,27,28,29,30,31,and 1/1, we had posted a sign in the middle of the entrance that clearly said that the park was at capacity and we requested that you return later. When we are at capacity we do suspend ticket sales for a period that varies depending on rider traffic flow.Your other comment regarding taking pictures is not quite understood either. We do not allow persons to be out on the snow taking pictures do to safety reasons. I'm sorry that your perceptions were not fulfilled.Tom DorganOwner
First I must say in the past the experience was better. This place only has 3 runs, which means lines move real slow. Add that to the $20 per person for ONLY 3 hours...means you get 4 runs if you are lucky...so equates to $5 each slide down...kind of a rip off. They need to add one or 2 more runs. That being said it would have been nice if they limit the number of people per 3 hour window...or add an extra hour if they know the lines are long. The bathrooms are not big enough for the number of people and one stall in the mens was closed. There are not many places to sit and when it gets crowded you can barely stand. This particular visit was day after thanksgiving...yes Ruidoso is super crowded...it was way warmer than supposed to be...high of 65 or something. So if you want to go here...aim for a day when most people won't go.They do not open until 10am most days and the early hours are the better time...before all the out of towners show up. Or come back late in the evening when most out of towners are on their way home. If you go...snow boots and gloves are a must.
We had a blast at the Winter Park! We even hooked up 9 of us on our tubes to go down the slope!! It's a very basic bare-bones park but the kids working there are super friendly and helpful, they have bathroom availability, plenty of tubes, all you need is time!
We had so much fun here. We went on Valentine's Day and it was myself, my husband and our two daughters (ages 4 and 1). They used the Kiddy side with the two small tube runs and they had SO MUCH fun! They were laughing and loving it. My 4 year old also went with my husband on a double tube on the larger tube runs. We highly recommend it and we will definitely be back!
Really good place to have fun just bring cash for food not all the food stands accept cards but great place for the kids :) and a lot of slides
