we crossed the river using the wobbly suspension bridge and then walked to the castle. The beach leading up to the castle is marred by the amount of manmade rubbish strewn about. A great many turtle nesting sites were marked ( I feel sorry for the poor creatures having to crawl to the sea over so much detritus ) .Marmure castle is quiet breathtaking even though unfortunately closed. It is possible to walk round the outside and the moat is full of turtles. Beware of the restaurant across the road from the main entrance .. I appreciate that trade will have been hit by the closure of the castle but prices for a couple of beers were much higher than anywhere else .
You can walk fully around the castle, but you can't walk in since it is being renovated and restored. The moat that partly surrounds the castle is full of turtles. Still, it is worth 30 minutes of your time.
Infine fu annesso all’Impero Ottomano.
An amazing glimpse into the past. One of many treasures Turkey has to offer. The castle is yours to explore. Some amazing photo ops available here as well. In fact, while we visited, a bride and her wedding party were there being photographed.
For all those who will visit Marmure castle this summer : it is closed due to renovations. You could just walk around the castle, what is still nice to do, but not the same as visiting the castle. Also look out for hasslers at the other side of the street who try told you that you an leave your car at their parking, which is free. But after your (short) visit you have to drink and eat something at their (dirty) restaurant. We just drink anything, and had to pay a very high price. You can park your car totally free before the castle, or at the overside before the old Marmure Hammam of the castle, which is more than a visit worth. A juwel, very well conserved. One of the pictures below is of the restaurant where we had to pay a high price for a few beers and a tea.
Cana yakın insanları, canlı ve içten alış-veriş imkanı, uzun sahil şeridi karekla yavruları veeeeeeeeee muhteşem deniz........
