It was a great play area but it is falling apart now. Nails sticking out, the two big slides are boarded up, swings are broken. It was not a good experience.
We actually took some of our middleschool youth from church there this weekend. What a neat place. I had no idea it was there, as I've only lived here a few months. Unlike any playground i've ever seen, and it was free.I would've rated it 5 starts except that it could use a little upkeep (graffiti, rusty chains on swings, etc.). Small stuff.
They have let the teenagers absolutely take over this place! PARENTS: take a walk around the inside of the structure before you let your kids play, especially young ones. Not only is there vulgar graffiti, some parts of the equipment have been destroyed to the point of being very UNSAFE. Half of the original structure on the outside is now missing due to teenagers breaking things and the city of Anderson does nothing to replace or repair it. This park was incredible when it was first built, it's such a shame to see them refusing to keep it up. Our mayor actually said its not the adults responsibility to provide things for children to do. What a load of horse manure!!!!
I was excited to bring my kids here after reading the reviews on here. Unfortunately, this playground has seen better days. It looks like it was awesome when it was new, but has numerous broken pieces and a few of the areas are somewhat of a hazard. We drove 40 mins to visit while on a trip to Lake Hartwell. We will not return. It's a shame this hasn't been maintained better.
I am a mom of 4 little guys. oldest 7..twins 4..and youngest 3. I am planning summer trips..trying to that is. I have heard this place is an awesome place...however it's been several years since my friend had been there. I would like for anyone who knows...has the upkeep ground work been doing? Is this a safe environment? I do thank anyone in advance for helping me make this decision to go. thank you kindly!
It is unfortunate that such a great place for kids is frequented by older kids who might be engaged in questionable activity within the playground. I suggest as a parent that you go with your child for a quick walk through before you let them go alone.
This playground use to be SO nice but has went down hill. It does not looked maintained at all. There is trash & fowl language painted & marked everywhere. Among many things It could also use a fresh coat of paint, weed killer (bc there's tall grass n weeds everywhere) & fresh mulch. Its so disappointing to see this place mistreated by unruly children/teens---especially since Anderson has very little for kids to do as it is :(
This playground was awesome in it's hayday. It's built with exploration in mind. There are many nooks and crannies for children to explore. With that said, there are many nooks and crannies for people to hide in. The structure is so huge, unless you are on their heels, it's hard to keep sight of your child. There have been several attacks on preteens by adults hiding in the shadows. I don't take my kids here anymore. It's just become creepy. The playground is in disrepair. Some slides are closed. My 4 year old niece went down a slide and bumped her head. It knocked her out and she ended up in the ER with several stitches. There are nails and splintered wood to look out for. If you choose to take your kids, please walk through with them and be aware of their surroundings. Also be aware that there is a separate entrance from the back of the area.
What was once a wonderful place for local kids to play is becoming a hazard. On our last visit we saw holes in the fence where the Ducks can enter the playground; a broken tire swing and missing pieces from their obstacle course. I am afraid that a child will be hurt if the condition is not remedied. Wake up Anderdon, the kids deserve better!
The Playground is located inside a Civic Center Park. There are walking trails around the entire place, with a few small lakes and a plethora of geese to watch and feed. There are also soccer fields, softball/baseball fields and kite flying venus to enjoy. There is also a disc golf course onsite.
