We liked the snorkeling here as well as Flash of Beauty. The reef is better the further out you go. If the surf is super high you may have to deal with cloudy water, we had many good days of snorkeling here in January.
This beach is a wonderful beach, welcoming one with clear blue water and powder white sand. We were there at 10 in the morning and had almost the beach for ourselves. If you like snorkelling, this is a great place to do that, but be careful because it can be strong current in the water.
This beach was the first one I ever visited on Anegada and I never wanted to leave. It's about a mile long crescent with a beach bar at either end, and boasts the best snorkelling on the island. Spend a day, or a week if you want as there are villas to rent right on the beach too. Don't miss the conch fritters and Pain Killers at The Big Bamboo, where, if you are so inclined, you can 'write' your name on the bar with a magnifying glass and the sun's rays!
Loblolly bay/beach is a "must" to visit if you've made the trek to Anegada. It's a short taxi from where you are moored - you tell them how long you want to stay and they return to pick you up - couldn't be easier. The beach is very large - you can walk quite a ways and because it is so big, I can't imagine it ever feeling crowded. The snorkeling is good if the surf isn't too high. The kiting (kite surfing) is great if there is wind. (There can be some strong currents here so just beware for keeping an eye on those that aren't super comfortable in the water or little kids.)They have a fun bar - the food is average (I would skip the food unless you're starving and just have a drink). We've been there twice over 2-3 years and the same set of "local characters" have been there each visit.
Loblolly is a must! The beach is beautiful and offers an amazing, relaxing, laid back feel. The bar was nice and the food was good as well. Will for sure be going back next time.
You need a motor scooter or rental jeep or a taxi to get to this beac but it is worth the trip. About 8 miles from the Harbourview at Anegada. Bikes also a possibility but it would be a hot 16 mile round trip. Easy to obtain transportation from the harbor with no reservations. The beautiful sandy beach stretches for over one mile. The beach has free Palm umbrellas for shade and there is good snorkeling right there. Wonderful place to swim too. A small restaurant on site and nice restrooms.
If i could close my eyes, click my heels and travel to the idea beach Loblolly Beach would be it. Miles of beach to walk, a couple of beach bars, very few people and the coral reef is right there.
Unlike many snorkeling sites that you need to access by boat, at Loblolly Beach you can literally step out from the beach and access some of the best snorkeling in BVI. Take a taxi or your scooter (which you can rent for ~$15 for 2 hours) and follow the signs to Loblolly Beach and The Big Bamboo. Walk out from The Big Bamboo, then return here for a nice scoop of coconut ice cream after your snorkeling adventure.
Just a short taxi drive from the marina to this beautiful beach. Awesome snorkeling...there is a powerful undertow to be aware of. NOT safe for small children but really great for teens and adults. You don't have to swim far from shore to see some reef. Sand like powder and not busy. Definately worth the short drive. Love love love Anegada
Great northside beach with a lively bar with local characters. Food available with gift shop and outdoor activities.
