Loved seeing the Christmas Carol here. This is a small stage, but a nice lobby area for before the show and during intermission (refreshments, etc.). Parking was easy across the street. The show was clever, meaningful and well done. Check it out!
If I tell you that I have subscribed to this theater since before they had a theater of their own, that should speak for how fond I am of this theater group. (I have attended since 1980) They don't really have usable parking but you can find parking on the street around the theater. The plays chosen range from one person to an ensemble but the acting is always top of the line and personally I always love the creativiiy and detail of the sets. Talented directors as well for a range of serious, comic or musical offerings. . With many productions, you are able to take beverages from the snack bar into the theater as long as you use a top. No real meal food at the snack bar but sweets and coffee and tea, wine and other beverages. The best description I can give is that this theater is like the best of off Broadway in New York. If you are in Albany, don't miss it.
Cap Rep is a fun place to see live performances. The plays are well done and often have serious themes in addition to musicals and comedies. If no street parking is available, the best value is in the parking garage off Broadway near the overpass.
Great local theater at affordable prices. Lobby has lite snacks, parking is across the street and on street, well lit and safe. Theater is small some seats have obstructed views.
We saw a great play and had great seats. This is a small theater so viewing is good from any seat that I've occupied. The refreshments make it interesting and it is a gathering neighborly experience before the show.
Capital Rep is a small local community theatre. The performance of Smokey Joe's Cafe was outstanding, comparing well against the Broadway production we saw a couple years ago.The best part is the price, we paid $20 each for front row (on the side of stage) seats. I could see the performers so close, could have touched them. Recommend that you see this performance or any other at Capital Rep.
If you enjoy live theatre, this is a must go to place. The Capital District is fortunate to host such a unique facility. Every year they outdo themselves in performance selections and they always have something for everyone. I encourage everyone reading this review, to visit.
Cap. Rep is a very nice small theatre. It is in a great location in downtown Albany. They do put on some very good productions and is worth a visit.
Known as Cap Rep, this small theater never fails to deliver. I saw "Souvenir" yesterday (3-11-15), and it was superb, just as "The Secret Garden" was last year. You won't find better theater anywhere.
Capital Rep continues to improve. As a subscriber for many years, I am delighted at the quality of theater I can enjoy in "Smallbany." Recently the productions have rivaled those you pay much more to see in New York City. And why not? Most of the actors have appeared on Broadway and off. And the local actors that land roles could be on the New York stage if they wanted to be. Since the artistic director, Maggie Cahill, has been freed up to do only creative duties by the smart move to combine administration with their bigger sister theater, Proctors, in Schenectady, she has been cranking out some of the best productions this theater buff has seen, ever. Convenient to many restaurants and with easy parking, Capital Rep offers a stress free opportunity for a great night out. Do subscribe. Not only will you get the best seats and best value, but you will be "forced" to attend more theater. And that's a good thing.
