The Perlachturm was a fair climb to a nice view. The entrance is just around the corner from the front of the church, tucked away inside an alley with the ticket booth most of the way up the tower.Make sure to plan your climb so that you are NOT up top during the bell ringing. We did not have that problem, but the ticket lady was warning people of the time as we started down.
We climbed up to the top (which is where the entry ticket office is located!) but the views weren't really worth it we thought.
The view over Augsburg from the Perlachturm is great. The entrance can be a bit hard to find - it's on the side of the church, where you only wonder if it's a door left open. The ticket office is just below the top of the tower, so you have to climb quite a bit to get there. There climb is steep and narrow, so go one by one and catch your breath. It's probably not the thing if you're afraid of heights.
The Perlach Tower is not open all year, but if you stay in town during the summer you definitely need to climb up there! Which means a bit of sweat (and a little entry fee) but is so worth while, when you finally can enjoy a breathtaking 360° view on the whole city. Don't miss!
Everyone who visits Augsburg should climb to the top and take in Augsburg's city view. A wonderful panoramic view. At one point the tower overlooks the main city center, but then you can see off in every direction. You can also go online and take a virtual tour if you came to Augsburg but missed the tower.
It has 258 steps to the top! But you are rewarded with a stunning view on a good day. Pictures on the way up depict the damage inflicted during the war. If you are familiar with the city and surrounding areas it gives a fabulous overview of the whole area
Simply the best view of Augsburg, the down side is that it's a LOT of stairs.
Even though I lived in Augsburg many years ago, I never visited this place. The views are amazing. Be prepared to climb a lot of stairs which are narrow at some points. It is worth going on just to be able to see the city.
This is an old tower from the year 989 AD standing right next to the town hall right in the heart of the city of Augsburg.
