This campground has all you need! Toilets, views from beach and bridge, salt water swimming or fresh water swimming, hiking, tree climbing, beach combing, fishing, safe places for kids to ride bikes too. There's many a great camp site! During summer months there's a snack bar on the beach.
We were here on a brisk but sunny Sept day. Made a stop at the Deception Pass bridge, but not brave enough to walk across. Tremendous views even from the side. Easy little hike around the beaches. Only difficult part I found was signage. Would love to visit again and take a kayak or boat tour.
Beautiful beyond belief. The bridge is dangerous, as is crossing the road. I loved the beach portion and took some amazing pictures there.
This is a beautiful park to take a hike and really enjoy the Puget Sound. You have the ocean, the forest, bridge and other islands.
We were in the area and had been hiking all weekend and were heading home. Deception Pass was not in the direction we were headed but we decided to go any ways. In the end it was the best part of our weekend. Spectaular views from the bridge. We walked from one side of the bridge across the massive trestle structure with fast flowing swirling water underneath us. When we got to the otherside there was a stairway that led us down and under the bridge and up to the otherside. Excellent! We were able to see islands that we were unable to see from this first side. An experience totally worth taking.
So many different beaches in one general location. Camping, hiking, sunrises, sunsets, ancient Douglas Fir trees, sand, shells, kids' delight to disvoer so many different things. Romantic. Awesome viewpoints and vistas. Walks that take you deep into an old-growth forest and end up on a beach. A place where there's lots of people but you don't feel crowded. Scenery that is utterly breathtaking when the sun's shining on the waters.
The sometimes noise from the nearby airbase. Otherwise, it's perfect. Gorgeous views, stunning waterfront fun and on and on.
A beautiful landscape with immense views even if it was a grey and miserable day, the nature shows its true beauty and scale and magnificence as it is respected and not allowed to accumulate the detritus you see in other parts of the world. If you cannot respect nature you must stay away. The views into Juan De Fuca from the bridges are inspiring, it is easy to access and the minimal fee to park and take your time in the national park and wander along the west or North beaches is another respect to you.Families sit or walk and take the quiet time together, dogs and kids enjoying its quiet beauty.Take your time and picnic, there are bbq stations and facilities for your comfort, I think it to be a model for this kind of outing.
This park has something for about everyone who enjoys state parks. It is large, expansive, beautiful vistas and unique sites. Get out your walking shoes and hike through the many trails near Deception Pass. See the wildlife and the beauty of the great Northwest. Sit at a picnic table and stare at the ocean. Watch Navy aircraft make approaches into the Naval Air Station. Bring a picnic lunch and just enjoy the great outdoors. Well worth the visit.
We passed through the Park on our way to Freeland Deception Pass was awesome, the tide was changing so it was pretty impressive!
