Very nice sand, clean beach and great weather. You can see the channel islands and makes you feel you are in Hawaii. By far the closest feeling of being on the beaches of Hawaii in California! Great family beach area.
Large beach, soft sand, very clean beach, nice pathways, nice green grass around Resort. Zero night life, but well worth it for a relaxing weekend
Beautiful beach, quiet, whale and seal watching from the shore. We had great weather. I would love to bring the family next time.
Loved to walk the beach. There are plenty of surfers but regular swimming is not a good idea because of the rip currents
I like the atmosphere where I and my family enjoy.Clean air inside the hotel. Most team members whether lobby agent, cleaners, their kitchen, their Coastal Grills were clean, restrooms,no need to use toilet seat covers.
We were staying at an adjacent resort and was hoping to spend the day at the beach. We were surprised to see a pod of dauphins go by. Had to be near 50 in the pod. It wasn't until later in the day that we realized the bottom of our feet and towels were covered in tar. While the resort didn't seem to be bothered by us ruining their towels we were not too happy with tar on our feet for the remainder of our trip.
Mandalay Beach is tucked away and very secluded, but a sight not to be missed. The beach is white sand and goes on for miles. It is generally very clean - except after a storm and you can walk for miles along the waters edge. The beach is very wide and the houses that line the eastern seem to be far away and don't interfere with the beauty of the beach. You can walk all the way to the breakwater, where a more protected area is for swimming. There are often dolphins frolicking in the water and you can get quite close in a kayak. In the summer there is a lot of activity on the water so you must stay focused, but the beach is generally pretty empty, even on holiday weekends. early morning and later afternoons are peaceful for walking. Around 11 - 3, winds can pick up and make the beach more chilly than expected, as it is most evenings. In the early summer, fog can roll in and it might not lift until late in the day - but it has a beauty all it's own. The big draw back is the generally cold water. I live a block away, so I am a frequent visitor.
This beach is not only very long it is also very wide. It has truly beautiful views of the ocean, the Channel Islands, and the mountains leading down to the shore in the distance. One word of caution, check wind speeds before going. At certain times of the year it can be extremely windy there.
The weather was perfect for the Santa run along the beach during our stay. The view of the Channel Islands was unobstructed all morning long. The cold off shore breeze was perfect to enjoy with a hot coffee in the early morning hours. Can't wait to go back!
Very clean and mostly families. We enjoyed sitting on the beach watching the dolphins and the ship passing by.
