We spent a day on the Arthur River to experience inland waters in Tassy. The guide shared his knowledge of the area with the guests. We would never have seen the eels or fed the sea eagle if we had not gone on the tour. The promised gourmet lunch was adequate but not what I would call gourmet. I was a bit cheeky at times with the guide and he took it all good heartedly. He and his wife have built a business from nothing and put together a relaxing day. It was a pleasant enough day but I wouldn't repeat the trip - that's my gauge of an excellent trip and it didn't get to that rating.
A thoroughly enjoyable day from the moment we booked in at he office, where we were greeted with coffee and biscuits.Rob has a passion for the Arthur River and he does all he can to make passengers get the most from the day with his amazing knowledge of the river, its wildlife and the local area.Feeding the sea eagles was an unbelievable highlight and lunch on the river bank was first class. We were lucky in that the weather was just about perfect for our cruise but I reckon that Rob would give great value for money even on a rainy day!!
We had a very enjoyable day cruising the arthur river. The boat is ideal as you can sit up the top and soak in the marvellous scenery and spot birds and wildlife. The landing shelter for lunch is fantastic as is the walk to the waterfall. Bob is very knowledgable about the flora and fauna and has uniquely lived in arthur river for just under 30 years. We would thoroughly recommend the reflection boat cruise and the arthur river holiday units as we had an accommodation/cruise deal booked on their website.
The boat is suited to this type of river cruise as it has a lower as well as a top deck giving 360 degree views. The captain Rob has a laconic sense of humour and knows his river and rain forest plants very well. The lunch with wine was most enjoyable followed by a 40minute guided tour through the rain forest. The day was very relaxing. We thoroughly enjoyed it and glad we chose this cruise.
Top trip ,top lunch ,excellent guide.Note the town address is wrong it is 4 Gardiner St Arthur River.
Spent two nights in the comfortable cottage and Rob treated us to a friendly and informative boat trip up the Arthur River. A great escape!
This has been an unexpected highlight of our Tasmanian trip so far, recommended by the Tourist Information Bureau at Stanley, and an easy day trip from there.Coffee and biscuits on arrival and a chat with Kaye, followed by a short drive to the beach lookout, before starting the cruise.A well set- up boat, with very comfortable lounge style chairs inside and seating on the upper deck outside if preferred. Great commentary from Rob, owner and captain. His knowledge of the area, wildlife, plants etc was exceptional and what a sense of humour! As there were only 10 passengers we had plenty of space to move around, a nice change from large commercial tours. We arrived at purpose built Warra Landing for a lunch stop and rainforest walk. We were met by the little pademelons waiting to be fed and then had a delicious lunch of cheeses, fruit, sandwiches, salad, cakes and slices etc with wine and hot drinks. A walk through the rainforest followed, with Rob pointing out various plants, trees and other interesting features. Back on the boat for a relaxing return journey. Take the trouble to make the trip to Arthur River for a great day out.
We really enjoyed our day on the river. The cruise is run by a friendly couple, we had a great lunch and an entertaining commentary on the boat and a fabulous walk in the rainforest after lunch. Well worth doing.
I was after a cruise that offered something we would remember Tassie for and that's exactly what we got. Kaye greeted us upon arrival and kindly made us a tea and coffee with biscuits before the cruise. Rob captained the AR Reflections and provided us with his knowledgable commentary and wonderful humour throughout the trip. We were fortunate to witness a baby sea eagle circling overhead and calling out. It's parents, whom were keeping a watchful eye nearby were more than happy to accept Rob's offering of fish and allow us to watch them quietly eat in the trees. We were treated to a very generous healthy lunch at Warra Landing accompanied by a good selection of beverages and wines under the close watch of a group of Pademelons. (Thanks Kaye for my gluten free pack :-). We then set off on a beautiful forest walk to Warra Falls complete with photo books identifying trees, palms and other flora. The 6 hours of pristine wilderness and stunning reflections passed all too quickly. Thanks Rob and Kaye for the perfect finish to a wonderful stay in Tassie.
A great cruise aklong a pristine river with plenty of wildlife, nice lunch with heaps to eat and a very interesting picturesque walk in a rainforest wilderness. Rob is helpful and has a good sense of humour. I can only concur on the positives mentioned previously. Rob did say that he never ever had to cancelled a cruise. We stayed at his flats for two nights and I can recommend them, they are exceptional well maintained and clean.Remember, there are two cruise operators at Arthur River, but AR Reflection is exceptional.Happy Cruising
