This is a large hill that overlooks the bay and all of the Baltimore waterfront. From the view on the hill, the sun sets in a way that the whole city is a nostalgic brick red. It's inspiring. Just go once, and see if you too might have an epiphany.
If you want to be able to see the Inner Harbor, say as the first stop on a tour of Baltimore, Federal Hill is the place to go. Take a sandwich and sit on one of the park benches. There's a small playground for little kids. Maryland, being a border state, supplied troops to both sides of the Civil War; and Federal Hill is where Union troops placed an artillery battery pointed toward the City to ensure that the population was kept under control. On-street parking is usually available along the back of Federal Hill Park.
There are a lot of steps to get to the top but it is worth it. The view of the harbor from up there is absolutely amazing. When you get to the top, there is a small playground and lots of benches where you can sit and look out over the harbor. There are a few statues as well as on old cannon.
Federal Hill park stands behind the Inner Harbor and offers great views, You can also see out into the waters in east Baltimore, and for football fans, it offers one of the best views of M&T Bank Stadium. There is a playground at the top for kids to play, a side walk for jogging or walking the dog. And it is free to go up. Looking to save money yet still enjoy Baltimore? Come to Federal Hill park for great views of the city's Inner Harbor and M&T Bank Stadium! A must see!
Great view of baltimore city along with a lot of history of this hill. Parking can be difficult at times so beware of the signs. There are cannons, benches, and plaques to read to tell the story. Not a large park at all and it is dog friendly. Can be crowded at times for it is a popular attraction.
This park is a 5-minute walk from the Scarborough Fair B & B. It towers over the Inner Harbor area and provides an outstanding view of Baltimore. There is a nice trail around the perimeter for couples, families and dog walkers.
This is a beautiful park. It is a must see in Baltimore. You get a great view of the city and harbor. Great place for pictures.
This is a nice park/playground to take the grandkids/children. However, I am disappointed at the lack of toilet facilities in the Baltimore parks. (So much so that I wrote the Baltimore Sun.) It's very difficult for the little ones because there are no toilet facilities nearby.
Stopped here after a morning run for a breather and it was really pretty...great views and a relaxing way to rest with a nice shot of the water behind you!
Although I have been to the Inner Harbor a dozen times, this was the first time I made the trek up Federal Hill. As I was personally disappointed because my childhood idea was that a military fortress remained at the top of the hill, it was still a worthwhile climb. The park itself is clean and tidy, including a jungle gym and memorials of its past. The best aspect is the panoramic view of the Inner Harbor.
