I love to eat. I highly recommend the Wine Soup at this restaurant. There were 4 of us in our party and we each had different dishes, including entrees and appetizers. They were all good, classic German dishes, however, the Wine Soup was a stand-out!
The food was great as well as the beer. We were there early and it was busy with people escaping the rain so the lone waitress was very busy. At dinner time additional staff sped up the service. Try the schnitzel.
As my husband told me...."Get your own!" This cute restaurant is the epitome of old Germany. Remodel in action, we sat inside near the leaning piano cushioned with back pillows on old wooden benches built into the room. Loved every second of eating here! Locals visiting, quiet romantic views and sounds allowed us to soak in the ambiance. I wanted to bottle it up and take it home, and as I mentioned in the beginning....get your own Apple Strudle! Fabulous!
We ate lunch at Alte Haus and had a great meal. Although there are outside tables, I think you really need to eat indoors to get the full ambiance. We had a great meal (including a great pasta dish) and fantastic wine. Would love to come back at night to experience it then! Service was a little slow, but we weren't in a rush to leave. This is a type of place you can sit back and sip wine in for a few hours.
We had a local wine tasting. We had 18 wines and pretzels and cheese to cleanse our pallet. Not the most welcoming environment but with a little wine, we had a nice time. It was a great way to get to know the local wine.
In the center of Bacharach close to the church you find this restaurant in this characteristic building. Inside you would think the whole atmosphere is like this since ages. The menue card is giving you choice enough drinks and meals alike, and for reasonable prices. If it was not raining as much as it did, we would have eaten our meals outside the house. I can only say we liked it here, and will come back for sure. I see there are pictures more than enough. I can only say take some extra time to visit, or better to walk through the streets of Bacharach as there are many of such beautiful old "fachwerk" houses dated say ca 1550.
We ate here as it was one of the places which was open later. The food was all freshly made but nothing special. The menu was limited and rather bland. Service was friendly and the waitress spoke English. They served local wine which was averagely priced (the red was served cold). No cocktails!
My boyfriend and I had dinner here while staying in Bacharach. The food was delicious - the wine was even better! The owner is very helpful at recommending both a meal and a wine based on your preferences. The setting is charming and romantic in an old, classically German building. I would definitely recommend!
We had 7 of us the other night and our reservations were for 7, but we were there around 6:30, which wasn't a problem. The waitress was very helpful and the food was delicious! Being lactose and gluten intolerant, I asked for the steak without the sauce and no yogurt on the salad. This was no problem at all! The service was a little slow, but this is an old fashioned type of place were they prepare the meals from scratch and one at a time! Expect to stay awhile. Loved the old decor in the restaurant. I highly recommend this place!
