When you head in to Ballina you will find this attraction in the main street. Run by Volunteers, the Museum has a rich history of Submarines as well as Warship and Merchant vessels. Relatively in expensive, this is a must for any traveller.
The outside of the building doesn't look like much, but don't judge a book by its cover! It's big inside with a lot to see.A great way to spend abit of time. Highlights for me where the small sections on local history. I didn't know a freighter was sunk by a Uboat off Ballina in 1943! Fascinating.Would especially recommend for a rainy day in the Northern Rivers.
amazing. Particularly the balsa raft and all that goes with it. Definitely worth a look. Lots of other interesting features and artefacts. I hope they get funding to conserve some of these priceless artefacts.
Spent a happy hour in here, could have spent more but was travelling to a deadline. Well set out displays, browse what interests you at the time. Heaps of information provided
The information packed into this place is huge. They have real ships & module too with a small gift shop. The staff are friendly. Worth a look for $5 even if you aren't into boats.
This isn't a big museum, but it is crammed full of exhibits, historical artifacts and information. It features a large collection of WWII naval memorabilia and a huge collection of model ships. Run by volunteers, it's well worth a visit if maritime history floats your boat!
So much stuff to look at crammed floor to ceiling with models memorabilia and so much more. For once we felt the entry fee of $5 was well worth it.
If you love boats and all sorts of marine memorabilia, you're in the right place at the maritime museum. Lots of history to read about and enjoy, good atmosphere for anyone with navy background or interest. Worth taking a look while in Ballina
Small but contains many displays and much information. There is a large raft, many photos and models of ships.
This is such a great museum run by a band of dedicated volunteers. It is home to the La Balsa Raft and a trip to Ballina isn't complete without a visit here at least once. My favourite Volunteer was Malcolm. So informative and full of fun.
