We stayed and Ramons Homestay and they say its a 30 min hike. Well, we are super slow and stop to take pics every 5 mins, so I think it took us 2 hours! The hike was not too hard except for when we went up and down the stairs, which we normal stairs, not the hidden ones. The falls was super cool, but the water was cold! We just went in for a pic, but didn't swim. The current is very strong so I don't think it's good for swimming.
Swimming in this massive waterfall after walking for hours through the beautiful rice terraces with the sun beating down was just what was needed. The cool clear water was so perfect! Not too many people there either! Small little food stall to grab a drink with a lovely woman at the top as well.
not so big and yet so far , need a lot of energy to do this, but you will surely love the freezing splash of the waterfall on your face and will surely swim down. precautions must be exercised person with health problems
It's definitely worth the hike... and the hike to it is just as great as the waterfall itself! I'm not really a "wow, a waterfall" person but I really loved this one. Maybe it was the somewhat challenging hike to the falls that made it look even better because you finally made it to your destination. Bring a hiking stick.
We really enjoyed our hike to see the waterfalls. You come here to enjoy nature at its own state. Depending on your fitness, from the lodging houses in Batad town, it may take 25 minutes to an hour one way. Once there, be bold. Go swim in the almost freezing waters. Get your feet accustomed to the cold and just jump in. It is exhilorating. After a while, your body adjusts to the temperature. Do not expect warm tropical waters. If you did not bring light replenishment, there are local vendors on the 2 stops. Pricey but well deserved for all the troubles to take to those points.
Once arriving at the jumping off point for the trail down to the falls, many people are dissuaded by the look at the decent (a drop of over 500 meters and 400-odd steps down) and some decide to turn back! Gather your energy and calm your vertigo and shaky legs because the falls are worth the trek and the effort to reach them is well rewarded. If you are there early in the morning or late in the day, you can have the place mostly to yourself as most of the organized tours will visit around mid-day or early afternoon. If you are up for it, try a swim in the refreshing cool waters.
Once you have committed to the falls, hiking past the rice fields are wonderful and well worth the trip for anybody, but once you reach the steep decent downhill for a good 500m it can be a little daunting, the stone steps are very steep with a small width to place your feet, some of the stones can also be quite mossy/slippery.Remeber at some stage you will be hiking back up these steps, take it slow, keep hydrated and enjoy the experience both ways.Once you reach the falls, all the hard work will be forgotten, I really feel that if you are not willing to swim in the pool of water beneath the falls it's pointless to take the hike. If you do swim you will understand the bliss.Tip: take a pair of wet shoes, as the rocks near the falls can be quite painful to walkk on.
After an hour or so of trek through Batad Rice terraces, take a dip in this uber cold waters to rejuvenate for the trip back. The area is wide and can accommodate at least a hundred people.
We met a couple from Canada who had decided not to see these falls with their mindset being "once you've seen a waterfall you've seen them all", which I almost agreed with, especially having seen some stunning waterfalls at home. However after making the trip all the way down those steps, I was still impressed with the Tappiyah Falls. It was cold when we were there so I didn't take a dip but my partner did and enjoyed it. Beware on a damp/misty day, the steps can get a bit slippery as some of them tilt slightly down. A walking stick/branch wouldn't go amiss if you're not entirely confident/have slippery shoes.
Going to the falls wasn't that easy and so does going back . there are instances that rocks got so slippery and might slipped but as we all know we have to take extra precaution. The waterfall is majestic. It gives a cool breeze. If you want to take a dip, it's really that cold. Overall, worth to travel
