My girlfriend and I stumbled across this place after our day of rappelling down waterfalls in Banos. I was super tired but was willing to gave it a shot anyways. I was looking for a chill place to have a drink before bed while my girlfriend wanted to dance. She puts me to shame regularly when it comes to energy. This place has both. Up front is a great for dancing but out back is this great open aired patio with a fire pit, chill seating and these awesome bar cats that will come sit on your lap. If you go to Banos Ecuador, go to this place.
What a great night. The Leprachuan Bar is an excellent choice if you are looking for a drink and a dance in Baños. The dance floor at the front gets pretty packed, music is a mix of Spanish and English. Out the back is a fire. I went with a tour guide to urged my group to try the Bob Marley. It comes in a small shot glass, is the Rasta colours red, green and yellow, you also set fire to it before downing it in one. It looked and tasted amazing. Bar staff let us put our bags behind the bar for safety. One girl from our group got really sick and we think maybe her drink was spiked. We stayed until 11.30pm.
I can't really tell you a lot about this place... mainly because the two times I was there during my stay in Banos I was pretty drunk but I really enjoyed it! Drinks were good, atmosphere was good, fun dancing and music.. oh.. and the CATS! So many cuties everywhere.. At one point we had 4 of them sleeping on our laps.. Not really something someone goes to a bar for.. but we loved it! haha :)
We saw Leprechaun bar open at around 3 in the afternoon (well, not really open, but the door was) and the owner (?) Wilson immediately invited us inside to see how it looked and to invite us back in the evening. He was really cool and we had a mixed Spanish-English conversation with him about Baños and things to do, and he was great in helping us find a tour agency to go talk to about adventure-type activities to do in Baños. We went back later that evening for the bar and loved the atmosphere. While the music is loud upstairs where the billiard table is and downstairs with the dancing, it is more muted where you are sitting around the fire and overall perfect for being able to converse with friends more. A friend and I tried dancing together on Saturday, but the dance floor was packed, and the strobe light was a bit excessive and uncomfortable. I'd suggest the bonfire more. The drinks tended to be a bit more than in other places as well, though they offer you a free flaming shot when you walk in. (Or maybe just the women.) Overall, a lovely experience and definitely worth a visit.
Nice atmosphere and great mix of salsa music. My wife enjoyed the bonfire and the laid back ambiance.
Bartenders were amazing and surprisingly helpful and friendly. Cocktails were amazing. Music is varied but more english than spanish, you'll fell right at home. Too bad it gets super super crowed! Loved it though!
