We visited Beamish today. Out annual pass is about to run out so thought we'd visit before it expired. We've had a annual pass for the last 3 years. Fabulous place and we never tire of the place. The bakery is brilliant and the manor is a must to see. We live in Newcastle and how lucky we are to have this on our door step. Well done Beamish....great place for families.
We first visited Beamish when it started, the car park was a muddy field and the tickets sold from a wooden hut! Lovely to see it develop over the years into such a wonderful attraction. History without boredom! We last visited on a very rainy Sunday in February. Despite the weather we enjoyed a look around the various parts of the museum, particularly the sweet shop and the garage. Amazing to think you can hire the vehicles in the garage for weddings. Lunch in the Tea rooms was delicious, and lovely to warm up! The railway trip and the trams were my favourite part, I could have stayed on those all day! Despite the weather and my heavy cold we stayed 3 hours, and there was plenty more we could have done. Visit - you won't regret it! Your ticket entitles you to a yearly pass- excellent value.
Had a resent trip with the family to bemish museum. Theres much to see the children loved it and very educational. But mam and dad needed a pit stop so we popped in the the tea rooms! The staff very friendly especially one inpertucular Sarah who made are coffee it was like a work of art "Starbucks eat your heart out"!!! I had the my youngest on reins and would have struggled taking to to my table Sarah offered to carry the tray to till and to our table got are sugars cutlery nothing was a bother what a fab member of staff
Great day out, lots to see, been a few times now and I haven't see all to see, best days to go are on the week ends as more of the attractions are running, friendly staff, open all year.
Me and my husband have visited on many of occasions and there's no better place on earth. There is lots of wonderful sites to see but our favourite is the town there is plenty to do we stopped off at the sweet shop which was lovely as usual bought some bread from bakery which we had with our tea! We had lunch at the tea rooms which was tasty and had a new barista hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows very moreish just the ticket!! Well done Beamish keep it up!
Seems not to make sense but I arrived mid winter week which offered a reduced price I was unaware of till I got there. £6.75 for a senior ticket. The Town, The Pit Village. Railway were open. But because I arrived around 12.30 and it was mid March only a couple of schools appeared to be on site. By 2.30 it was very quiet indeed. in some of the buildings I visited I was the only visitor in there which gave me an opportunity to talk to the staff and ask questions, also to have an unhindered look around.Caught the bus several times - didn't manage to try the tram. Bus driver and conductor very friendly. Missed the tearooms the first time round and had to catch the bus back to the town. The signage is virtually none existent - the tea room sign was propped up in the corner inside the park - not helpful. And the painted signs on the wall were blank!!If you have an interest in this era 1900 to 1913 well worth a visit.Tip - can be cold (wrap up if visiting in winter) and quite a bit of walking around, although the bus and tram frequent at busy times walking may be best option. Quite a few steps inside houses and buildings.
