This is a superb historic court house. Take your time and just sit and imagine what it was like back in the old days.
Good chance to see around the whole courthouse include all the various back rooms and for the kids to sit in the various parts of the courtroom itself and "re-enact" for a bit of fun. A bit of Kelly memorabilia and story helps bring the historical element alive.
There was lots of information, an continuous voice over trial, able to take photos, could freely walk around.
Dont go here without taking one or both of the "Echoes of history" tours which leave from the Town Hall opposite the courthouse. The talented guides, in our case Laura, will make the history of this historic town come to life and the Ned Kelly tour in particular is fascinating. The Courthouse itself is probably the most impressive of the collection of building on the precinct and the audio commentaries are especially well done. Go into the Library and you can smell the history of this place. This just adds so much value to any visit to this town.
We took our 4 year old and 7 year old and they were given 'Look and Find' sheets which kept them busy and allowed us to take our time to look at everything. This is the second time I have been to this courthouse and still find new things to look at.
It's a must to visit and very interesting from an historical point of view. Good value and easy to navigate.
Loved this place, so much to see you could imagine what was going on in there many years ago. Highly recommend a visit
Where Ned Kelly faced the bench –– among many others. Well curated, with knowledgeable people at the desk. Worth seeing.
A very well presented piece of history, which forms an interesting tour together with the museum. Well worth visiting.
Excellent staff who really went out of their way to make the visit fun and entertaining for the kids.
