i did play this course 1 week before the european tour visited antalya - i couldn't have got a better time.major issue was the time of the round 5 3/4 hrs - the group in front couldn't make it past the ladies tee's and didn't look like they had handicaps. i was paired with 3 others all off 20 (I'm off 3) and the stater let them play from the medal tees and they couldn't make the carry off some tees, they wanted to play form the medals though! the group and slow play could have been managed a lot better. It was a fantastic course to play
It is one of the best courses I have played on. Although there was a lot of rain the fairways and greens was in immaculate condition. Fees are also very reasonable.
Played here in Feb2015, 10 players ranging from 8 handicap to 27, bit dissapointed as mens tees were nearly where the ladies tees were, great course but surprised how many un repaired pitch marks there was, played Carya and Lykia Links same week and the were in a lot lot better condition, but saying that will definatly play it again
Of all the courses we have played in Belek the Montgomerie is one of the most challenging and worthy of it's championship status. The layout maintains your interest with a variation of holes incorporating tree lined fairways and water features. There is a choice of 4 tees providing a challenge for golfers of all standards. When we booked our package provided details of our handicaps (8 & 15) which is normally used to ensure that we are paired with golfers of a similar standard. This is obviously of no concern to the Montgomorie management and we were paired with a couple who had only been golfing for a week and had no handicap. Without any disrespect to our partners I do not know of any other championship course in the world where you are permitted to play without an official handicap and it would appear that management are simply trying to maximise income without any consideration for the golfers. Following our round we expressed our concerns to both Durmus at the golf centre and Guest Relations pat the Maxx Royal. To their credit, the matter was settled promptly to our total satisfaction but it is a situation which management should have not allowed to happen in the first instance.
We returned this year, a group of 25, men & ladies, Pros to 26 handicaps. This course again didn't fail to impress providing a good test for all standards. This course offers a selection of tees varying the length from just over 6000 to nearer 7000 off the tournament tees, though like many of the courses in Turkey at this time of the year, are trying to get too many people round the course, and therefore persist on pushing the tee markers too far forward with the yellow tees on the ladies tees. This delighted the higher handicaps, but left our lower single handicap players and pros disappointed. The course again provided the "All inclusive concept" which meant for a very welcome complimentary drink and snack from the refreshment cart, and a nice touch with the included drinks and food in the clubhouse after. My only comment, was that the waiter staff in the clubhouse were not of the friendly and pleased to help and serve as experienced in the hotels, shame, as most of the other staff, reception, pro-shop staff were very welcoming. All in all though, well worth a play, not the hardest course, but well presented and fair. Great practice facilities.
In my opinion not as good as the PGA Sultan but good nonetheless. My biggest complaint is the very slow play on the Montgomery. If people find the course too difficult they or the Marshall should move them to forward tees.
We played this course for the fifth time in 18 months in November 2014 with another two couples and our previous experiences allowed us to proclaim to the other couples who hadnt played it as the best course in Belek. We played just over a week before the Turkish Open due to be played and were horrified at difficulty of the `rough' which was cleary left to grow in advance of the tournament. If you looked at my prevous glowing reviews of my Golfing experiences in Belek you will not that this was always my favourire course but taking almost 5 1/2 hours for a round with unplayable rough was not only embarrassing but way short of the Sultan and Caria in terms of condition of the course. Really disappointing this time I'm afraid!
What a golf course top marks to all greenkeepers work so hard and present golf course to a very top standard
We were lucky enough to play this course one week before the Turkish Open, wow, what an amazing experience. A fabulous course and we felt very privileged to be able to play it only 1 week prior to Tiger!
Please enjoy it, it hosts the penultimate event before the final European Tour event, and it is a quality course, but watch for the free food & drink offer...the barman stung us last trip...
