Shuksan Golf Club is tucked away off the Guide Meridian, north of Bellingham. I play the course once a year, for a birthday outing with a couple of foursomes. This is a course you'd want to ride, as very hilly & some pretty severe elevations. Condition is usually very good. They have however changed a few things over the last couple of years. They did away with their putting green & also no longer take Canadian at par on Tuesdays. I would recommend the excellent muni course at Lake Padden less than 30 minutes souith, which to my mind is equally good and is about half the price.
Nestled out in the Rural country side, this golf course is not only stunning to play but a real challenge. I recommend a golf cart though some do walk the course. Several holes including 1 and 10 are situated with tee boxes high above the fairway making for exciting tee shots and steep walks down and up. Lovely clubhouse overlooking the course. Great pro shop. Friendly staff.
Played the course on August 31 - teed off at 2:00 PM - 5+ hour round which sucked, but course was in excellent shape with wicked deceptive greens - &^%$#! three-putts. A really fun course to play with elevated tee boxes and greens and lots of water. Used driver only a handful of times rather than going deep and wet. $90 all if for my 15 year old and I with a cart and range balls which I thought was an exceptional value given the course quality and conditioning. Only drawback was that marshals should have been moving the groups quicker. The foursome in front of us was walking which would not only be physically taxing but really slowed things down. Would definitely return to play again.
Four couples go here each year to golf and relax. We love this course, especially in the fall since it has so many colorful trees on the course. The breakfast burrito is yummy and wait until you get a hot chocolate with peppermint schnapps made by Darcie. Darcie is the Queen of the Cafe. The drink itself is reason to go there but the course is fun.
Easy 35 min. drive from border. Cheap green fees, good rate for seniors, Interesting opening tee shot. Several steep climbs up to next tee boxes to hit back down to fairways. Fun course, not too difficult but some challenging holes
Worth at least one visit due to the drastic elevation change. Rates are decent in the winter. Golf cart recommended.
Awesome scenery and mountain views. While I am not a golfer, my husband has played it. It's hilly and beautiful, and we used to eat at the clubhouse for the view and the food on special occasions.
This is a really neat course. The thing I like the best is the speed of play. We never had to wait for the group ahead of us and we were never pushed by a group behind us. The different elevations at this course make it unique and the course layout is fun to play. You might want to rent a power cart if you play due to the elevation changes.
I went to shuksan and it cost 40 bucks with a cart which I think is a great deal for this course. The elevated tee boxes offer spectacular views and the course plays fair. Great value for your dollar
Just played this for the first time and mud (plugged) balls everywhere. Greens are quite bumpy and some have fungus and winter kill. Only $27 @ 1 pm, so it's good value, and its a good work out / walk for sure, for those carrying. Played blue tees.
