We thought this museum was fascinating. A wonderful collection, staffed (on the day we visited ) by volunteers. Great way to obtain insight into Australia's history. Allow a minimum of 2 hours, longer to really appreciate it. Entry by donation.
This is a very good museum. It is well laid out and maintained.
An extensive range of uniforms, photos, notes, medals, so on and so forth. The gentlemen working there were delightful, a must see if you are in the area.
Well worth a visit.......a large collection of historical information, photographs and memorabilia..........we had no idea there were Italian POW's in Murchison, but apparently there were and they made various items for daily use which are all on display.
A really beautiful building and in a great location with all of the other really beautiful building all around and at night just as beautiful then lit up with lights
This is a very comprehensive museum run by volunteers, many of whom are war veterans and keen to inform visitors of the items on display. Much of the material has been donated from people of the local area and so it has special significance and poignancy. Knowledgeable guides are available, and arrangements may be made for school group visits. The guides also volunteer their services to local schools to inform the students of Australia's military involvements and legacies. Well worth a visit.
This is an excellent effort for a country RSL. If you like the history of Australians in war its great
Saw the outdoor display about 10 months ago and it was impressive but the details escape me at the moment. Intend inspecting their unique WW1 photo display in 2014 - it is based on negatives found in a home in Bendigo about 2 years ago.
An excellent museum full of military memorabilia. This mainly has on display private donations so it is very eclectic and has a personal feel. It makes for a very interesting hour or two in one of Bendigo's historical buildings. Staffed by knowledgable volunteers it only costs a gold coin donation for entry
This Museum is the first I have been in that had such a great selection of uniforms and Kit. The different medals and information found was very interesting and a credit to the RSL Branch who look after it
