I'll be going back. Excellent wines that are hard to find outside the winery, at least for me. Beautiful tasting room, overlooks hundreds of acres of grapes.
Hi Andy - Thanks for the visit. We are limited in number of ounces that we are able to provide for a tasting by the Washington State Liquor Control Board. Our staff is trained to provide 1 oz pours so as to comply with the rule. That being said, I understand your frustration. I would like to invite you back to the winery for a tour of the winery and winemaking facilities. Please feel free to send me an email (jj@kionawine.com) and we can set up a time/date that would work well for you and a +1. Cheers, JJ Williams
Award winning wines in every category! A great place for a group, they have a large variety of wines to serve a variety of tastes. Great service! Awesome view! Family owned!
We began going to Kionas Winery many years ago. Venue is fantastic as is the view and all the great wines. Glad to hear they have a dedicated tasting room. We received a gift certificate for food or wine and my bottle will be lemberger. Can't wait to see all the items. All staff are very service oriented and love to smile. We have been to a Wine Society event there and we all had a great time. A good time is touring the barrel room and seeing how the wine is made. They have very knowledgeable people to explain the process to you. Have fun and enjoy.
The new tasting room is beautiful, offering pretty good views. We like to bring a picnic lunch and eat on the patio. The wines are solid, not extraordinary, but good. Kids can have free fruit juices or soda while the adults quaff wine.
We arrived a little early to this vineyard. They were gracious enough to open early. The service was exceptional. The wines were delicious. This was our favorite winery in the Yakima Valley area. A must for both reds and whites.
My boyfriend and I were out exploring pretty early in the day and got to the winery before they were actually open, but they let us in for a tasting and the wines were excellent!
Where to start? Amazing tour. Amazing view. Even better wine. I'm a wine collector and self-proclaimed wine snob. I've been purchasing wine from Kiona for years. It's truly great wine. The wines all have a certain 'attitude' about them. I couldn't pinpoint where the attitude came from until I visited the vineyard. We were treated to an afternoon with the owner and winemaker and a walking tour of the vineyard, production facilities, and barrel room. These wines are truly hand crafted. Yes, there are machines. There have to be machines, right? What I mean by hand crafted is the utter care, precision, and professional experience that goes into the tending of grapes, processing, and bottling . Every step is well balanced between automation and artisan craftsmanship. It's truly impressive. The important take-aways:-Plan to walk away with some wine. You'll be happy you did.-Ask for the stories and people behind the names of the wines. Chances are you'll be able to meet them.-Be sure to check out the wine that comes from the "end of the road". It's a great experience with great people! Kiona is a "must do" when in the region!
We live in the area and Kiona has always been a standby for us to take visitors to--even before the new tasting room. The wines are good, the view is fabulous, and the tasting room has always been welcoming. I had friends visiting this summer and I took them tasting at a few of the area wineries on a Wednesday. After we finished tasting at Kiona we were informed that there would be a $7.00 tasting fee for each taster that did not choose to purchase wine. I was surprised since there had never been a tasting fee in the past and $7.00 seems a bit steep (they were the only winery that we visited that actually charged a fee). When I asked about the fee, I was shown a small sign by the cash register. I usually always buy wine when tasting and in the past I have just ran up to the winery to pick up a bottle that I have tasted in the past. I think, however, that Kiona will not be a go to winery for me in the future...
Very pretty winery with gorgeous views of grape fields. Very popular winery also, the most crowded. We loved that the wine flights are free. Really lovedthat. I like reds but we fell in love with a white! I love a bit dry and my taste buds wanted the white sweet wine! The ice wine. Wow was this a complex good quality wine. It is a dessert wine but still tastes like wine and sweet but not too sweet with a nice body. Decent value. About $20 for a very small bottle. We are saving this wine for a special occasion. The reds were good but the ice wine was fabulous and a very good seller here!
