Sunny, fresh day and what a delight. Extremely well-designed playground in a beautifully maintained park. A delightful surprise where my 4 year old twins had a brilliant time...and on non-holidays there is also a train! Thoroughly recommended
Cabin John has lots of grass, trees, parking,a small train to ride on, and an extensive network of durable swings, slides, forts, and airplanes to climb all over. A truly fantastic park for the elementary school child.
But for kids is the funniest... A beautiful playground which is well kept, the little train ( 15 mins ride for 1.75) and fresh air. And plenty of parking.
I've been to this park many times, and it's always a great time. Great place for anyone to play, especially for those who are adventurous and like to go for a trek throughout the woods. They took out their biggest slide which was tons of fun, and that's why I took a star off. Other than that loss, this park is an awesome place to spend a beautiful day at!
Cabin John offers a little something for everyone. They have a huge play area that offer several different play "zones" that cater to various age groups, provide opportunities for exploration, building motor skills, creativity, learning, & hours of fun for children from a few months to several years. There's a train that runs on a regular basis during summer & warmer months & offer special themed train rides for holidays as well as a year round indoor skating rink that offers lessons as well as other wonderful programs. The park also has baseball fields, & many other activities. They have picnic areas, places that can be reserved, trails to hike, & are conveniently located near Westfields Montgomery Mall & Cabin John Shopping center. Montgomery offers several places to shop & eat, & Cabin John has some restaurants, eateries, & a big, chain grocery store, so after a big day of play & exploration, you can settle in a nice cafe, eatery, restaurant, or for those wishing to go basic, one can run to the grocery & pick some things up. Regarding time: The playground is free, but there's a minimal cost for the train, skating, & rentals (if necessary), etc.As for recommended time, one can go for less than an hour, or stay for several. We've done both.In the playground, they have free standing machines that have snacks & beverages (though I personally wouldn't recommend those items as I'm a bit of a health freak), but if you're desperate, it's there. They also have snack food at the skating rink - also, would recommend running to one of the shopping centers to eat more "decent" food.
It's a very nice park. Great place to get the kids out to play - lots of different play areas. Great place for them to burn off energy. We had a nice picnic - plenty of tables even during "peak" times. The hiking trails are great.
Great, Clean Playground and Moving Rideable Train that goes around the park. Lots of parking and open areas for throwing a ball or frisbee.
I used to come here more often when my kids were younger. They LOVED to ride the train around the park. The playgrounds are great, with some unusual, original activities and hood challenges for all levels. Also gas ball fields, tennis courts, hiking /jogging trails through the woods. Great place
Top flight playing fields draw top flight regional teams playing for free. Playground and steam train rides for the kids. Tennis courts and ice skating in season. A real gem.
I was initially worried about taking my pup to the dog park- I've heard horror stories about people who bring aggressive animals to dog parks. Not the case here though. All the dogs were quite friendly, and most of the people are regulars and familiar with one another. Everyone seems to watch their pet and clean up accordingly. Very nice that people take care of this place so it isn't ruined for all. If you do encounter an aggressive dog or irresponsible owner, there is a sign posted with telephone numbers to call and report them. Since this dog park is open to all, it's important to deter irresponsible pet owners so everyone can remain safe.
