This is quite a distance from the heavily visited touristic sections that it was a treat just to be in this funky and underwhelming spot.
Small easily navigated with reasonable crowds off season and lovely beaches nearby. Handsome square with many gelaterias and cafes to idle away your time.
Polignano a Mare was our destination even though it's quite a long train trip from Bologna! It was more charming than we expected! Postcard perfect views from every angle. The old part is completely walkable, with plenty of eateries and the nicest people. The entire area is very clean and friendly. We felt completely at ease everywhere during our six days. It's very tranquil but never dull.
like little streets cleaned and quiet that end on balcony with amazing sea view . Dislike bars and pizzerie very expensive
Very special place, too cute, lovely, romantic, nice views to the sea. One important thing at center has free wi-fi !
We have been visiting Polignano for nearly ten years, and liked it so much we bought a house here...The Centro Storico is the best in the area for the evening passeggiata where locals and visitors walk the lovely narrow streets, chat to friends, and have a beer or glass of wine whilst watching the world gently process by. When we first came here we likened it to a film set on a balmy summer evening and we still love it. There are some great bars and restaurants, and stunning vies from the balconies overlooking the Adriatic. If in this part of Puglia, don't miss it!!!
The historical center of Polignano a Mare is truly a gem! It is beautiful to wander through the streets and see the residences and restaurants. In the spring there are flowers hanging from many a balcony and there are lots of whitewashed buildings. It is completely picturesque! There is a gorgeous pebble beach with absolutely sparkling clear blue water and amazing views of the sea cliffs and sea caves!
it was very quiet walking around on a cold but sunny January day. The area is lovely and there are many different pathways you can get to the water to view the crashing waves. Some very interesting buildings and I imagine in summer it is full of people. A little lacking in atmosphere today but still some great photos can be obtained.
The entire coast of Polignano's gorgeous and historic center is small but very nice. A city not to be missed by tourists.
The old center of Polignano a Mare is charming and impressive. The old houses on the cliffs, the beach between the two rocks - very impressive. This town is a majos tourist destination of the area, so every possible spot has been turned into an osteria, cafe or souvenir shop. Still, the town manages to live its own life.
