This was the last stop on our self guided bike tour of the region. After sampling some excellent wines, we relaxed with a glass of our favorite wine in the Sensory Garden with a cheese plate. I have a food allergy, but the staff were very accommodating in switching up the sesame crackers for some walnuts. The facility is beautiful and the wines are excellent, however the staff are what made this a fantastic way to end our day.
This winery is one of the finer stops..informative staff, beautiful property and the wine...is as tasty as the decor and presentation. Lots to see, hands on experience at the wine tasting bar without any wine snobbery. Such a memorable visit...and isn't it nice to come away with more knowledge of whichever area you are trying to get to know?
Spending the day at niagara on the lake and touring wine country. This was by far the best wine of the day. Also George made the experience very enjoyable and interesting. Not only did he teach you about the wine he also included some personal experiences making the visit very enjoyable. Thank you George!!!!
On a wine tour over thanksgiving weekend, Reif Estate was our third stop. My husband and I have spent considerable time touring wineries at the Niagara Bench but this was our first tour in Niagara on the Lake. Upon arrival we were stuck by the beautiful vineyard surrounding us, the sensory garden, the fountain and the well maintained grounds. Once inside the sizeable shop, it was a madhouse! People everywhere, tasting, yelling, grabbing bottles. We were sent to a back room with a few other guest for a tasting that was unfortunately soured by a swarm of fruit flies. We tasting a very sweet white blend, an unremarkable red, and a sugary vidal ice wine. Our guide did his best to educate us about each wine but I think the rowdy crowd got the better of him. It's a pity that the wines that were tasted seemed to be the "bottom of the barrel" for tourists who know no different, as we have many Reif wines that we know of which are delicious (especially the Magician!). I wish they has wowed us with some new favorites. We did purchase the Magican red, a Baco Noir, and a Riesling Gewurtztraminer.
Very nice property with a impressive selection of wines. We really enjoyed this winery as part of our days tour of tasting. Their ice wines are awesome the best we've had.
I recently had the pleasure of stopping in at Reif wineries and enjoyed tasting several wines. The staff were pleasant, polite and very helpful. One particular server assisted me by bagging the bottles of wine I chose for purchase, carried them to the counter and ringing in my purchase. When I got home and began taking the bottles out of the bag, I was surprised to see that two of my chosen white wines, white merisan, had somehow got mixed and I came home with two bottles of chardonnay. I called the winery the following day and explained the mistake. The woman I spoke to was polite, friendly and very understanding. She very kindly offered to send me the bottles of wine that I had intended to buy. I received the bottles within a couple of days. What a pleasure it was to deal with personnel from this winery. I will continue stopping in and purchasing wine from Reif Wineries when I am in Niagara on the Lake. Thank you.
Staff were very helpful and explained their wines well, which helped us decide which wines to taste. The icewines here compared well with others we tasted and were more reasonably-priced than elsewhere. We enjoyed our tasting session here.
This is one of my favourite wineries!! The staff are friendly the location is beautiful and the wine is fantastic!! I am highly disappointed that they are sold our of my favourite wine (Baco Noir) and will not be making it again until the 2017 harvest =( I would definitely recommend this winery to anyone touring the area!!
This Estate winery is one of the better ones in the region. Big enough to be producing a great selection of wines. Because of it's proximity to town, it can get really busy at times. Be patient at the tasting bar as they have a great selection.
Visited Reif Estate Winery with out of town friends. We were grouped with a large party celebrating a personal milestone and thus I had some misgivings at first. However, the tour guide quickly took control and all went well. The guide had an engaging style and was knowledgeable, albeit somewhat inexperienced. Of the areas we saw, the Black Room (so called because of the paint) was my favourite, although some were not so impressed. We tasted three wines, one white, one red and an ice wine. The white and the ice wine were very good, whereas the red was not to my taste. From the wines that I checked, the pricing was very reasonable, and we did purchase some bottles. My friends and I had a great time and would certainly recommend a visit.
