We saw 'When We Are Married' at the Royal George. The seats are a bit snug and the theatre a bit warm, but that did not stop us from thoroughly enjoying the play. We had some hearty laughs and plenty of chuckles. The acting was good and the story line fun. The show is about three couples celebrating their 25th anniversaries, having been married at the same time. There might be a problem...but I won't spoil the fun.
We love this setting! The seats are comfortable, great view of the stage....real "old theatre" setting. Just LOVE it!
A beautiful theatre with excellent acoustics. Conveniently situated in the heart of town - near shops and restaurants.
The play is a Shaw classic. It was very well performed. The theatre seats were slightly uncomfortable with little lumbar support. The location is very easy in the middle of the town. It is easy walking distance from almost any of the accommodation in town.
The decoration and the atmosphere are inspiring and make the experience of the theatre show even more attractive. A very good choice if you hesitate between the 3 other theatres of the Shaw Festival in NOTL.
The site lines are good and the acoustics are good, but the downstairs bathroom is inconvenient. It is well located on the main street and the theatre has easy access. It is also surrounded by good shopping and ice-cream stores, both a big plus.
The Shaw festival continuously puts on wonderful shows that are absolutely worth going to see. One of the best professional theatres around. Absolutely worth making a special trip for!
Three of us went to the Royal George this afternoon for a performance of Juno and the Paycock. The performance had been highly recommended to us by a critic, and although we didn't think it was quite as fine as he thought it was, it was very good. The theatre itself is small and well-maintained, with good sight lines from the orchestra as well as the balcony, where we sat today. A very enjoyable experience.
Saw "Arms and the man." Wonderful production. The theater is intimate, very comfortable. We did not expect it to be as funny as it was. We saw the Tuesday evening production followed by a Q&A with 2 actors and the stage manager afterwards which gave us more info about the production
Excellent production - war is a serious subject but this was a comedy. Great set and acting. The Royal George is a great little intimate theatre.
