Beautiful house with interesting story. Some of the furnishings were not original to house but were to period. Our guide Georganne was wonderful and quite gracious. The painted ceilings were beautiful. You get to see the entire house.
Do not trust Garmin to get you here. Check out a good map ahead of driving there. We visited in off season and our guide spent two and a half hours talking us through the whole home. He was personable and very knowledgeable and made the afternoon for us..A lot of the furnishings are original and the rest period correct. The whole home is open, unlike many historic homes. It is not handicapped friendly as there are steps up to the home and then to the second floor and down to the basement. The grounds are probably pretty in the summer.
Very friendly, and knowledgeable staff. The home was are first historic home tour and will not be our last. This home has been well preserved and taken great care of.
I was very fortunate to have a personal guided tour as I arrived as the house opened in the morning. By the time the tour ended I felt as though I knew the family personally and had 'lived' the history of the house. It has been restored and furnished very carefully from first hand accounts so it is as close to the original as possible.
This Civil War era home is in great condition and the tour guide was one of the nicest we have met anywhere. If touring old houses is your thing finding this place is worth it.
A rather small historic home furnished with period pieces. The staff was not overly friendly. The local government has expended funds to save and restore this old home which is great.
This is a beautiful home with an interesting family story. Our tour guide was very interesting. If you go at the right time, I understand a family gives the tour! There are some beautiful antiques on view. A nice, inexpensive thing to do with great local history.
Riverview at Hobson Grove is a wonderful example of classic Italianate architecture and lovely Victorian furniture. The house is steeped in Civil War history, emerging furniture designs, engineering advancements, and serene grounds. Beautifully restored and containing many original family furnishings. Riverview is a perfect "House Museum" and worth a visit!
You feel like you have taken a step back into the gracious living of the 1800s. Beautiful home with beautiful furnishings that has been beautifully restored and maintained. Excellent place to visit!
After my GPS failed to successfully help me locate the museum, the staff provided detailed and excellent help over the phone.I received tour from the director, and learned about the rooms, the furnishings, the people, and just about everything related to the facility. It's a very nicely preserved historic home with many original family pieces.Well worth the time and admission.
