We love going to this park when the weather is good. Lots of room to spread out, ride bikes, play ball, have picnics, walk, lay out, just whatever you in the mood for. The food they sale out there is overpriced, but sometimes the food trucks setup around the park and the food is good.
Great place for a lunchtime walk, or a concert, or just playing frisbee with the kids. A bit of green surrounded by the city.
Birmingham did a wonderful job with the creation of Railroad Park, a natural area in the midst of the downtown area. Most days, you'll see children playing and folks exercising, throwing a Frisbee and having a good time. They have concerts and other special events here from time to time. If you're looking for the "outdoors" in the city, this is your spot.
Park was clean and looked to be well-maintained. I didn't experience any unwanted issues nor feel unsafe, though I was there in the middle of the afternoon. Enjoyed the views of the city from here!
A beautiful example of what a city can do when they put their minds to it. Changes in topography abound and make every scene different. You will not be disappointed!!
This is a great park for visitors to get some exercise in when visiting Birmingham. The large loop around the park is approximately 3/4 of a mile, so it is practical and convenient. There are a couple of other path options as well. A very nice place with plenty of family activity!
Loved this spot. I'd heard about it and wanted to check it out for myself while in town. I can see it serving the revitalized downtown population for years. Very similar vibe to the high line in NYC.
It's a really well done park! It is a little small but, very nice place to take a walk or take a yoga class.
To me, it's just an average looking grassy area with no charm. There is a track and a pavilion and maybe a few small trees but Birmingham is so beautiful as a city and this place does not depict the true beauty of the city.
Railroad Park features a very large green space, surrounded by walking trail. There are play areas for kids and a gym-like area. What makes the park so popular is the surroundings as well. Birmingham Light Rails at each end next to the train tracks (North) and the Barons stadium to the South end. This gives you a great view of the city and provides a refreshing modern industrial design.RRP is a great place to walk around and enjoy time with friends or family, either before a Barons game, during the concerts in the summer months, or even taking a quick jog around the park.
