Moonlight specializes in showcasing singer-songwriters. This is a listening room, and you are reminded to minimize your conversation while the performers are playing. Prices are very reasonable, but no food or drinks (other than free coffee) are served -- you are, however, quite welcome to bring your own, and people bring just about anything. The music is the main draw, however, with acts often consisting of only one or two people. Music generally starts around 7:30, and is usually through by 10 or a little after. The website has an excellent calendar with links to the artists' websites where available.
This placed is designed solely for listening to good music. the prices are very reasonable, $10 or $12 depending on the evening, about the cost of a movie ticket. Bring food and beverage if you wish, otherwise help yourself to the coffee. We were visiting from out-of-town and discovered it on Trip Advisor!
So glad you found us, and took the time to share your impressions--- you've got some great live music venues in your home neighborhood, so we're particularly pleased to have compared favorably! Hope I got a chance to welcome you in person, and please come back (with friends!) next time you swing through Birmingham---- our music schedule, for months to come, is on the website---
We really enjoyed our visit to this venue. The atmosphere is casual, warm, intimate and romantic. The music that night (Mike June and Jessie Keith) was my favorite kind: songs from the hearts, hands and voices of the ones who wrote them. So was the audience- there to listen and enjoy original music. MOTM is in a plaza right across from the Tip Top Grill, so you could eat there, then bring in any snacks or drinks that you want across the street for this show. We had a little trouble finding the place since there is no large sign on the outside of the venue, so I thought I'd include that little hint.
This intimate venue is a little larger than your den, but not much. That's one of the attractions. Everyone in the room sees and hears everything, whether it's an acoustic set or a rowdy Beatles Cover Band (the BeatLads). The cost is minimal ($10-$20 CASH cover) and it's BYOB/BYOF. A great place to meet friends and make new friends. Check it out!
My husband Moe and our college age children Emily & Will & I have been enjoying this wonderful LISTENING ROOM for years. We also rent this awesome place out for Birthday parties and other events. Plus, the open mic night is always a hit. Thanks so much Keith for being so devoted to our love of entertainment. This "out of the box" concept is a way for us to enjoy being together without talking about a bad day at work or other life issues. It's more than a listening room it's a Panacea.........Fondly,Nancy B. Davis
I went to this venue twice while I was in town and enjoyed the music on both occasions. The owners we very polite and helpful and it had a very nice atmosphere, you get close to the performers. If I was staying longer I go again.
We're so pleased you found us to your liking-- come back when you can, and thanks for telling the good stuff!
I have been here several times and it is a great little venue. It's a very laid back atmosphere and the location has a fantastic view (especially at sundown). I love the fact you can bring your own food and drinks, too! I look forward to seeing many more shows here.
