While the tour was not extensive, is was very interesting. At the end of the tour we tasted 8 wines, most of which were very young. We were amazed by how much wine our guide could spit.
Joseph Drouhin wines are Simply The best... But if you are in Beaune, you have to visit their cellars! Tasting wines there is one of those experiences you cant miss if you are a Wine lover!
Read the history of Wine and War so we had to do this walking tour. Nice explanation of the 2005. Expensive for 70 euros for us. Could have bought a bottle. Mercier was a better overall tour as many that have done both will tell you. Happy memories.
Really interesting tour of wine caves and magnificent wines that we tasted. Tour is expensive but worthwhile compared to other options.
We had a guided tour by Manon. She was very knowledgable, and she spoke English very well. I recommend this tour because you get taken through caves that many of whom were constructed in Roman times. There is also a 15th century wine press on sidplay that is still used to make some of their wines. There was a tasting of 6 wines at the end of the tour. All were very good. I highly recommend this tour.
This experience was totally worth it!!! It was a little difficult to find so make sure to get specific directions....the wine, tour and the atmosphere was great! As we are California wine lovers, we wanted to experience French wine. We really liked the wine and were happy to hear that Joseph Drouhin also has US wine out of Washington....we've purchased it. The history of the building and the winery were very interested.....keep in mind that Europeans "spit the wine" and we are used to actually "drinking it"....a little funny to experience the "looks".
We booked this tour to see what was described as one of the finest wineries in the region. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and spoke excellent English to help us out. The old buildings, wine presses, and caves were a great view into the history of the wine making business in Beaune. Our group had many questions and she handled them all including from our French friends who were growers from Champagne. The highlight was the tasting. We had 6 wines, all excellent, the best we encountered in our month long visit to Beaune. The price was 35 euro and there are other cheaper tours but this was well worth it to get the history and taste some of the best wines Beaune has to offer.
