Our first experience at the Pops was wonderful, the best New Years celebration ever. Swing music by great musicians, hats and noisemakers, the countdown and bubbly for toasting the new year.We didn't have dinner before, so we ordered a couple of appetizer plates, a sandwich and a bottle of wine. This was too much, next time, we'll get less. The cheese plate was boring, every type of cheese tasted like mild cheddar (flavorless). The meat plate was also lacking flavor. We didn't touch the sandwich and ended up giving it to a homeless guy after the concert. Service was perfect, the bill was high.
It has been a very long time since we went to the Pops for New Years Eve. We want back this year and the Orchestra did not disappoint. People were dancing in the aisles and in the balcony where we were. We had a wonderful time.
A special night, venue and concert favourites presented in a new, fresh way. An annual " must see" and sing-along.
A lovely, rousing experience. A great time. The enjoyment of the local, appreciative Boston audience is part of the fun. The orchestra and chorus in fine form. Obviously, a cherished Boston tradition.
The Pops is a great experience. Not sure about the selection about a story of WWI - not matter how uplifting, for a holiday celebration. It seemed a bit self indulgent.
The Boston Pops Holiday Pops show was beyond our expectations. Music and atmosphere were extraordinary. The choral group from Tanglewood were exceptional and a great compliment to the fantastic Boston Pops. A must see if you are in the area during the holiday season.
Did not think that this would be so great. Was I wrong. Armed with sheets We were given at motel to lay on the ground we camped out early. We didn't pay to get in the concert area but they set up speakers all up and down the river so you can hear perfect. Fireworks after the concert capped the night. It was great.
Attended the Christmas show on December 12th. My first time in Symphony Hall. As one might expect, the music was outstanding!! Well worth the price of admission ( $40 each ). I have been listening to the Pops for 30 years or so and the Pops orchestra was a treat, as usual.
My family and I go to the Boston Pops every few years, and every time we do, we wonder why we don't do it every single year. The Boston Pops are absolutely THE BEST, especially when it comes to their Christmas Show. I remember going with my own family over 40 years ago. It was great then, and it is still great. The music is an awesome mix of songs you know (LOVE the traditional sing-along!) as well as beautiful classical pieces. There is a lot of humor mixed in, which totally adds to the charm of what could otherwise be a "stuffy" event. Keith Lockhard is so engaging and talented and witty and just plain enjoyable to watch. We did all agree that we will be going again next year. There is simply no other way to get into the Christmas Spirit.
This was the first time that we have seen a movie while the Pops played the entire score to the movie! It was a great experience! We had great seats and the Wellesley High School chorus did a wonderful job as well. I am looking forward to seeing what will be offered next year!
