This small lake sits at the base of Mt. Hood. It has lots of camp grounds that are at the lake level. A popular place to Kayak. There is a lovely, level hiking trail around the lake. It can be crowded at the beach at one end of the lake on a summer weekend.
One of out favorite camping areas in all of Oregon, and our favorite on Mt Hood. Overnight or just day use this place is a must. W e prefer the no frills tent camping, but there are also camper/ trailer sites. Book in advance for the summer because there are not a lot of sites. If you are into roughing it, there are also first come first served dispersed areas. The lake is gorgeous with snow capped Mt Hood overlooking it. Swimming, non-motorized boats and fishing. You can pre-rent a stand-up paddle board, canoe or kayak from one of the outfitters in Government Camp or towns nearby if you don't have your own.
If you are going to visit the Mt. Hood Area, do NOT miss Trillium Lake. There is an easy 2 mile hike around the lake (no gain in elevation). Or just relax and soak in the view. Even on a not-so-nice day, this is a peaceful place. No jet skis, no motor boats. We like to visit here in the autumn when the summer campers are gone and the cross-country skiers haven't arrived. It's not far of the highway, so if you only have a short time to visit, this is worth a stop.
My favorite place, beautiful trail and amazing views of Mt. Hood. I could spend forever here and not get tired of it!
Nice little lake. Lots to walk around. The summer can be crowded, but the winter is spectacular for cross country skiing.
Just an extremely scenic spot with Mt Hood reflected in the lake ... Really nice walk around the lake ... BEST PHOTO SPOT is at the Dam end where you get a full lake reflection of Mt Hood ... We were there in the fall ... I bet the photos are great in the spring and early summer with more snow on Mt. Hood. Don't miss it
We were lucky and went on a cold day in November, and had the place all to ourselves. Nice hike around the lake, and a gorgeous view of Mt. Hood. Springtime will be much prettier, and our last summer hike there was peaceful and interesting (newts!, birds!).
Great view of Mt Hood reflected in the lake. This is a gentle hike or cross-country ski trip. There is a road, but I have never driven there, only skied.
This park has everything! Nice lake and surrounding park area with dirt and paved trails galore. You can do laps and enjoy different terrain. I highly recommend it for a great workout.
One of the most photographed views in Oregon... and it never gets old. The lake, Mount Hood...it's perfect.
