Allen Pond Park is a beautiful place. It has an amphitheater with Sunday entertainment. You can bring chairs and blankets and sit on the hill and enjoy. It has a year-round ice rink that offers ice skating, hockey, lessons and social skating. It also has paddleboats that you can rent by the hour for a nominal fee. In addition, there is a one-mile (estimate) black-top walkway all the way around the pond and a gazebo on a hill overlooking the water and the fountains. You can fish in the pond or feed the ducks. Allen Pond Park has picnic tables and covered party areas as well as sports fields and a skate-board park and basketball courts. However, the children will tell you that best of all are the play areas. The children’s areas are wonderful climbing, swinging, bouncing play areas encouraging learning and pretending. They have groundcover of special rubberized material. There are two play areas—one for the younger children and one for the older children. These play areas are handicap accessible and there are special swings.
We enjoy Allen Pond Park. It is clean, spacious, and a nice park to go to for fireworks on July 4th. We attended a friend's company picnic at this park, No complaints from our family about Allen Pond Park.
The resident ducks and geese welcome boaters in summer, the ball fields host soccer and baseball, the stage features local performers as well as military bands. Skateboarders have their own facility, as do ice skaters. The kids love the playground and the near mile path around the pond attracts strollers, walkers, pets, bikes and runners. Plus it is home to several festivals each year.
Allen Pond is one of those few places on Earth which has everything going on. First it has a nice size and walking around the pond is at least a short hike, especially if you take your dog. Nestled throughout are picnic spots and it isn't unusual to see hundreds there during summer weekends. There is a good playground for the kids along with paddle boats you can rent. I'm not sure how many fish are in the pond but you can usually find more than a few people fishing. We've gone many times to freely hear great music, but bring along a lawn chair. We've also been dozens of times to one of the many ballfields to watch a kids game. Finally, both my daughters took ice skating lessons at the indoor rink which is open year round. Frankly, I can't imagine what they could add to make it more complete.
Allen pond is extremely cool and is great for the kids with a soccer field, baseball feild, basketball feild, and most importantly a pond... the pond is filled with fish and geese it is cool and i would definetly go again
It is a good local park. Good for adults and children. The pond is good size and has paddle boats in the summer. The walking trail is fine though fairly short. There is a hill climb which makes up for the short trail.
This little park is a very family oriented place to go on a warm weather day. Nice walking trails around the pond, paddle boats, play area for little ones, picnic pavilions you can reserve plus lots of picnic tables spread around. Weekends in the summer see entertainment at the small stage, nice to spread out a blanket, lay back and enjoy!
I spent the day with my family. The park is equipped with walking trail, paddle boats, and several play grounds to accommodate the babies to school aged kids. It's a family friendly park, my family and I love spending a day out here.
Have been going to Allen Pond for over 11 years, mostly to run. It is a pleasant, lovely part that offers a variety of activities, from ice skating to picnicking.
