It is one of the most beautiful and amazing buildings in Poznan. The attention given to the details is unbelievable! You must also see the show on clock tower every 12 noon. A bit cheap but it has got its own climate
A beautiful square.. different, old-fashioned, fancy.. just amazing! interesting buildings surround the square with lovely fountains and bars, restraunts etc. it is worth visiting both during the day and after dark. the best suprise comes at 12 noon every day!! the goats with battle by the clock!! :)
It is situated in the middle of the Old Market. Definitely must go and see it at noon any day! Go there and check on your own what I'm talking about :p
Whole Old Square market is a beautiful place. After dark felt magical and very Christmasy.. I had to stop myself to not to take a picture of every single building there. Ratusz Poznański is a lovely centre of attention on the square. Photographed by me every time when I was passing by(just couldn't help myself lol)
The Ratusz (former city hall) was a Renaissance builting designed by the Italian architect Quadro. Toward the end of WW2 it was nearly levelled by Allied bombing and Soviet artillery. What one sees today is a not very scrupulous reconstruction. But, still, it gives a decent flavour of what the building must once have been like. Inside, there is the museum of the City of Poznan, which is worth a visit. The clock tower features two mechanical goats that butt heads each noon. There is also a trumpeter who heralds midday. Most days a small crowd gathers just before the Ratusz at about 11:55 to listen to the trumpeter and watch the goats.
We were attending the wedding and went inside the Ratusz. It is a very nice, old buliding, definitely worth sight seeing.
It's the same as the most Squar's in Poland. This one have the specially every 12am two Coats shock. You will visit the city center, you will pass for this one.
Don't forget to include Poznan in your tour of Poland, so much to do and see, friendly people, amazing shopping, great festivals, amazing history, view from top over city is spectacular , great hotels, had an amazing day and night during a four day stay during festival, go, walk, soak in atmosphere, so much to offer
The town hall has an old-fashioned museum with quite reasonable content relating to the town - and most signs are translated into English. A nice way to spend an hour-and-half if you happen to be there. The most interesting thing for me were a number of books from 17th century and the posters and pictures from WWII.
Those interiors (ceiling) are interesting. There is a museum exposition relative to the Poznań history. Only 8 PLN entrance ticket and you may see some paintings, memories of the Nazi occupation during WWII.
