I first viewed (back in 2010) the Brantford Twin Valley Zoo with my late brother around my birthday as his treat to me. An avid photographer and amateur naturalist, he had heard the TVZ was the anomaly in the assumption all private zoos were problematic. Despite his ailing health he was determined to take me along to investigate this site. Twin Valley provided much enriched experience as we strolled around and explored our way and appreciated the creature-awareness style, construction and insight built into the space overall. Clearly this was a place where animal care, public education and conservation were priorities. My most recent visit with friends was a bitter sweet one as I knew my brother would have been hugely satisfied with the most recent additions and improvements...and with the close of this 2014 season it seems greater projects are on the way. So I would encourage folks to discover this unique gem. The TVZ just keeps getting better and better and it is heartening to see.
This was a family trip and I left feeling sad for the animals. The price was right but the animals did not seem happy! The big cat pens were rank w the smell of their spray/ urine/feces. The housing was small and there seemed to be absolutely no enrichment provided to the animals. I even asked a staff member what kind of activities were provided to keep the animals happy and she didn't know what enrichment was!? The cockatiel were screaming in their cages, flamingoes were shivering, a baboon had open sore areas on its bum, wolves and mountain lions were continually pacing in their cages and the camel was drinking stagnant green slime water.
Recently visited Twin Valley Zoo in Brantford and found it to be a lovely zoo, especially for families with small children. Lots of shaded areas, with picnic tables. Good value and very enjoyable.
Spent an afternoon with family there. Well maintained and had ecological habitat for smaller aquatic animals (turtles)Animals appeared well cared for and had plenty of space to roam.Young patrons had the opportunity to enjoy a pony ride on the grounds.
I went to this zoo earlier this summer and the cages were too small, old and well not safe. The large cats could easily get out if they wanted to. After we saw the loins (the male very angry). We left as we did we kept looking back to see if it got out. Will not go back.
Great variety of interesting birds and animals! Knowledgable staff and well cared for grounds! Must see!
Fantastic local zoo for younger children or a couple looking to spend a couple of hours together. Not a great place to make an entire day of it.The price is right for the attraction.
My grandkids love this zoo. They actually get a close up, animal education, with hands on experience at the Reptile show.Great place to spend an afternoon.
This past summer we had a chance to visit this zoo. I was really amazed at how many animals were there. The grounds were well kept and clean
This zoo has lots of variety for a small local zoo. Sure enjoyed not having to drive to Toronto to see the sights
