Seaside Park Beach has had many transformations over the years. They are continuing to improve the area which is a plus. I have been visiting that park for 50 years and it is at its best. It is clean and secure. I never experience any off smells either. The vistas are beautiful and we always have a lot of fun. Yes, the water is going to be less than crystal clear, mostly due to the fact it is on the sound and not direct open ocean. It is a must see - especially for anyone who has any hesitation to visit; they should see for themselves how lovely and relaxing it is. You can use the beach or use a picnic table, and have a great day with your family! I live in a landlocked town and always choose this beach!
Not the type of beach you picture in your mind, but if you want to walk or jog, its okay. My wife and i used to just picnic and enjoy a nice shady breeze.
I was born in Bridgeport in '55 on the other side of the tracks from Seaside Park. When I was young, every weekend my folks would bring me along with them and we would spend the day at the beach. In the 60's it was a great place to be, with picnic tables on the esplanade and I looked forward to the occasions we brought hot dogs and burgers and had a picnic there. After so many years down there, I hated swimming in Long Island Sound. Fast forward to more recent years. The park is rundown, a long section of the beach still reeling from Superstorm Sandy. Thank goodness the town dump on the other side of the beach was closed years ago. It's ok for a drive along the beach, but there are plenty more beaches around other towns far better than tired Seaside Park
Compared to how it USED to look the park is 100% better was really happy ,easy parking beautiful views and felt "safe" Have returned again since the last visit and cannot wait to go again
Traveled to this area to catch a glimpse of lighthouse since it us one of the few in this area you can get close to. I was told I would have to pay $40 since I was from out of state. This area would not have warranted $40 even if I had wanted to do more than get a quick glimpse and a picture of a lighthouse. Skip this one!!!
The park is the place to let it all hang out, show off your cool car on a sunday afternoon. Its a place to sit in the sand and catch a tan but probably not swim lol. Its a place to play catch, football, soccer or futbol. Its a place where the 'Vibes', 'Puerto Rican Day Parade', and other festivals take place. Its where I am from and personally I like it. Is there "better" beach/ parks in CT sure, but this one is worth the trip, not if you have to pay to get in though..
Seaside Park is a treasure! Great for strolling along the shoreline watching the Port Jefferson ferry go by, buke riding, sun bathing, swimming, cooking out or just relaxing by the water. I visit this park three times per week! I love it. Good for all ages!!!
$40 to ride down a road and see a lighthouse is simply ridiculous. After asking around, we finally found a place to park on the side of a road, but was too far to walk to one lighthouse and we never found a way to even glimpse the upper lighthouse until we got back on the interstate. Will take my $$ elsewhere.
best beach in the state of Connecticut! Clean safe just a beautiful spot to spend the day bring a picnic lunch enjoy it with your friends and family
The town is trying to make mark improvement around the beach area, with an area play ground for kids that is just as good as other local towns or better. Because of its location, heavy storm damage continues to be a problem but considering all odds , it's ok.
