We visited the new tasting room at Bluestone today, lots of room and still the same great service as before. This was our second visit since Bluestone opened several years ago. The tasting were a little pricey but they spanned over all their wines, red and whites, and the offer to visit some twice was always there. They had several sweet and dry varieties, some very bold and some lighter. We liked it so much we left with a case! Some of this will be for Christmas presents and some for an upcoming party we have planned.
Last night we went to the Southern Nights Holiday Wine Makers Dinner. The star of the show was the 2009 Southern Nights red wine they served with the main course of steak or venison. It was soft and supple, with a full mouth, tasting of cloves and cinnamon, one of the best VA red wines I have ever had the pleasure to drink. One problem, there were no extra bottles to take home! We were there to drink the last few cases with a celebratory dinner. The other food and wine pairings were great as well with southern inspired dishes paired with new release white wines that were also very good. The dinner is served in the tasting room/basement of the owners home, a beautiful setting in the Blue Ridge Mtns. A special night out, worth the drive from No VA.
The setting of this winery was perfect for our Fall visit. Staff was friendly and there wine was excellent. Had a wonder day with a new friend we met sharing a nice bottle of wine and a basket of cheese and crackers. Will return on our next visit
The tasting room is a little smaller than other wineries, but the staff are great here and they made the tasting fun. Wine was good and it looks likes a fun place to drink wine in the summer due to their beautiful outdoor space.
The lady who was serving us was awesome, not a wine snob which was nice for my beer drinking son! She didn't frown when he ate too many crackers! Nice variety of wine and by the wine by son did like the "beer lovers wine" which was their traminette. Took a bottle home for my GF who only drinks beer and she loved the "hoppy" nose! Enjoyed being able to bring our own food and sit outside on picnic tables to enjoy the scenery!
This fairly new vineyard has made some remarkable strides with their wines. Add that to weekend music during the summer and beautiful landscaping, and now the new tasting room.. great place to spend the day and enjoy the delicious wines!
This was our first wine-tasting experience so I don't have anything to compare it to but we had a great time at Bluestone! The staff was very friendly, answering every question. I really enjoyed our time there and can't wait for our next visit! Even in winter the place was beautiful!
The view is amazing! The gal doing the tasting was super nice. Would have liked something like a cracker to eat in between tastings. You can choose from white or red tastings or both. You get to taste about 8 wines for $6 . We ended up taking home two bottles. Fun!
Only 1/2 mile from Bridgewater. Excellent small winery with music & food events most wknds. Great wine selection to enjoy at there peaceful country setting.
You can't go wrong with a sweet aromatic wine named after the winery's dog. A beautiful vineyard producing some of the best wines in the Shenandoah Valley.
