A must do historical attraction in Bridgnorth. A great leg saver for the less able, only a short 30 second ride but saves an awful lot of steps and a very step incline! £1.20 under 6 free. A lovely tea room and steam train at the top.
a quaint way to move between low and high town.Great views of bridge, swans and up river.Over all too quick, but worth it.
We were fortunate to have good weather on the day we travelled to Bridgnorth. It really did feel like we had stepped back in time. It was a beautiful relaxing ride from station to station. A lovely day out if you like that sort of thing as we do. A short but steep walk to the local village market and very friendly people. Plenty to eat and drink. I would say it is something you should do at least once in your life. It's just a different they of experience which I found very relaxing.
Only takes about a minute from bottom to top (& vice versa), but when you consider that you have to climb maybe 100 or more steps (depending which of the several sets of steps you choose between lowtown & hightown), it's well worth it. Believe me, I've had the aching legs to vouch for the effort!
This almost unique experience of a Victorian Cliff Railway is a 'must' for any visitor. The views from the cliff top before boarding, the cheap fare, and the riverside walk and views, make this an attraction which does not take long in itself, but opens access to two different scenes is very worthwhile. Look at the old photos to see the incredible engineering feat which made this possible. A a courier for Coach Tours, I always look forward to tours which call at Bridgnorth.
Great fun and lovely views - go up and down between low and high town. The grandkids loved it so have been lots of times now and then to the Severn Valley Railway... great day out.
Driven past this hundreds of times and always wondered about it. It is the ideal way to combine both the low town of Bridgenorth by the river and high town . It is an attraction in its own right and a real feat of engineering to be appreciated. Adds that little something different to your day at Bridgenorth.
Love this place would cone all the time of I could goos job I don't live near as I would never be at home
Of course its a short ride but this quirky little railway links the upper town to the lower town so you must try it.
An interesting way to get up to High town with marvellous views. This is particularly good for children as railway is only one of a few left in the country. Combine this with a trip on the Severn Valley Railway and you have a very interesting day out
