Stopped by this gem while staying at a family vacation home in Bridgton, Maine. The theatre has great prices, new releases, and is adorable. The theatre's themselves had less seats than we're used to, which was great - it made the experience all that much better. And the quality of the image was great - like watching HDTV - none of those film reel circles that show up. Great place! We'll be back again and will check out the pub next time that is on site as well.
A wonderful old fashioned movie theater with new fashioned options. There is a good food pub located right here with occasional cribbage and trivia contests. The theater is comfortable with good sound. One has the option of enjoying a beer in the over 21 balcony!!
Magic Lantern is the place to watch and enjoy a movie. If over 21 you can sit in the balconies and have drinks. Atmosphere is very nice. It is decorated nice. Also has a pub with a very large screen to watch sports, especially football. I highly recommend this as a place to go in Bridgton.
We live in the North Country of NH where we have to drive at least one hour to anything! We, by chance, found the Magic Lantern while looking for a good movie (The 100 Foot Journey - Excellent, by the way! Bridgeton and their Magic Lantern complex is modern, clean and absolutely beautiful and was only an extra 15 minutes drive from Fryburg Acadamy This place is a little jewel and we will see what is playing there first before heading out to Conway, Littleton or St. Johnsbury - all an hour drive from where we live. A wonderful destination and if you live closer to it than we do....you are one lucky duck!
You can't find this experience any where else around. People from Maine, Boston, NY, everywhere rave about it. Bathrooms are spotless as are the theaters. Great food and a solid value. Check it out! We do, at least twice a month.
I love the way they renovated the Magic Lantern. Any movie theater with a balcony is a treasure. Good food, always clean and a great place to see a movie.
You think to yourself, how can a movie theater be beautiful! But it is--words like modern, yet vintage and classic come into mind! It's apparently been here for a while, but was renovated relatively recently and is very popular the neighboring towns. It felt intimate and warm, very much unlike the large chain movie theaters and made for a very enjoyable experience, even though we just went to the movies. There's a balcony, that is just for 21+, which makes it that much nicer than your average theater. You order the drinks in the restaurant/bar downstairs, and they bring up your drink. They are also pretty serious about enforcing the 21+ rule for the beverage reason. And the seats are very comfortable and clean! The restaurant has a pretty good menu of sandwiches, and general pub-like food, so you can grab a bite just before your movie. If you're here for a couple of days, definitely check it out. If not for the food, for the movie theater.
I haven't been to a movie theatre in months and generally shun them because they are too sterile. We saw " The 100 Foot Journey" Friday evening. We had dinner at the attached pub; nice service and good pub food. The theatre was very intimate, a nice balcony with a good sound system. The seats are comfortable, rest rooms are clean, and there are several movie related artifacts decorating the theatre. All in all an excellent experience. The owners have made me rethink my aversion to theatres.
It was neat to see this place! Nice old school charm and comfy seats. There was a bar/restaurant downstairs along with the usual concessions. Balcony upstairs was a neat place to sit. Loved it!
Had recent movies playing and good quality. Has on site pub which you can drink on the balcony. Friendly staff and beautiful decor.
