Expanded this past year with more theaters to see great movies that you otherwise wouldn't see unless you lived in Center City. Seats are comfortable. Movie selection is great. Lots of additional programming. We finally joined and you should too!
A small movie theater in suburban Philadelphia. Had questions, initially, so I submitted them via both telephone message & online. The response, on both, was almost immediate. Very helpful, very friendly. We went to a matinee showing of "A Hard Day's Night," which is celebrating its Fiftieth Anniversary -- now Re-mastered & Blu-Ray & blah, blah, blah. There was ample Parking. EVERY worker you encountered greeted you & wished you a nice day. Seats were comfortable; had beverage-cup holders. It only cost $8 to get in. Refreshments were reasonably priced (to begin with) and your Popcorn bucket is refillable! Plus, there's a small Coffee Shop just outside & you're allowed to bring stuff you buy there (except glass bottles) in with you! We had such a nice time. Very GLAD WE FOUND IT. We will be back.
I LOVE the Bryn Mawr Film Institute!!!! This is THE best movie theater in the area. They just renovated and expanded the theater, so if you haven't been there in a while, it is time to go!! They have great classic movies a few times a month, and movies for kids, and a lot of 'artsy' movies that you see at more select theaters. This place is great. I keep saying I am going to become a member- since movie tickets for members are only $6.50. It's so nice to see a neighborhood movie theater thriving, they are few and far between. This is a gem!!!
Bryn Mawr Institute was taken from a run down beaten up place to an outstanding facility. Not only can you take an enormous list of film classes, but the new renovations have taken it to a new level. I was at the Nantucket Film Festival again this year, to see a great run of new movies. I loved seeing that this institute ( It is more than a place just to watch) had them only four weeks after. It showed that they know their films, and certainly their audience.
The film selections were good. The crowd is quiet. The seating is good. This theater is a very welcome alternative to the Ritz in Philadelphia. It is in a much safer neighborhood with free parking and a wonderful restaurant selection. Support this quirky but lovable theater.
We are SO lucky to have BMFI in our community. It's a slice of heaven for film buffs! They have four stunning movie theaters, all with comfortable seats and all very clean. BMFI shows a lot of unique, small independent movies that the big chain theaters don't get. They also have the top foreign films. There is always something interesting playing here!Plus it's just so much more! They have movie sing-alongs, they play some of the old classics and they have amazing film classes.I go here each Monday and watch a classic old film and then after the film we all discuss it and give our two cents. It's fun, interesting and something I look forward to each week. This is the best movie theater in the Philadelphia area and we are SO lucky it's here. Plus they have the best movie popcorn that I have ever had!
Bryn Mawr Institute is an icon on the Main Line of Philadelphia. The range of movies, the classes offered to members are wonderful with great discussions.
Wonderful theater, so happy it has been preserved and maintained as a true Theater of Arts, true to it's roots! Outstanding customer service...proud to be my home town theater.
I agree that this is the top attraction of several good ones in Bryn Mawr. Splendid films that you would otherwise need to go to downtown Philly to catch. Great lectures. Terrific special showings. Comfortable enough. Decent sound system. If you become a member, you get special deals. A venue for fine independent film makers and a place that will show special short subjects as well. Come here. JOIN.
This must be the hot spot in town! During a recent conference I used our short free time on Saturdays to visit this film institute and just let my mind be guided by these great films and yummy popcorn. These are real treats and a departure from my usual routine. I saw two excellent films. A hot tip though: This is THE HOT SPOT in town - while I was fortunate and arrived a tad late for my films I waltzed in and sat at my preferred place in the front of the theatre. That is good, cause this place is PACKED! So do arrive early if you don't want to sit right in front. When I left on a Sat afternoon there was a line almost around the block getting ready to enter! When i arrived I noticed that people were buying tickets early for a later feature. This just does not happen in my town! I am so impressed. Thanks for the great escape from my intense conference! I want to visit again!
