No idea why this is in the guide books or even described as an 'attraction'. It's a few scruffy blocks with some little shops and delis. Nothing to see except the bridges, don't waste your time going here.
Just a great area to have a snack at Shake Shack, Grimaldis or Ice Cream factory, and look out to the pier and see the Brooklyn Bridge. Also provides a great photo opportunity of the Queensborough bridge between the alley ways
Beautiful views of Manhattan (and of Brooklyn Bridge) just across the river. A variety of restaurants, shops & galleries to peruse. Add this to your list of must sees along with Williamsburg
Firstly, it's a beautiful area! Stunning! Great for dates, family outings or hangout with friends. So many areas in this place! There are bike rentals to bike on the boardwalk, huge grass area, benches, rocks to sit on... Very calming. Gorgeous and great experience.
Beautiful area with lots of personality! Great park for kids - excellent view and easy access to both Manhattan and Brooklyn bridges. Park and carousel are great for the kiddos!
This is a trendy area loaded with nicely decorated homes, small restaurants, and great photo opportunities. One thing I noted was the lack of people and how quiet it was when we visited. Not like the crowds across the river in Manhattan. We also felt very safe in that area. A relaxing moment in NYC.
Gorgeous area with great specialty shops and restaurants, worth the work over Brooklyn Bridge for a visit
I was walking around this neighborhood yesterday and stumbled upon some interesting buildings. One of the buildings I discovered was the Robert Gair Company. Robert Gair invented the paperboard folding carton by accident. He was a paper bag maker and printer in Brooklyn in the 1870's. There are some neat views of the three bridges (Williamsburg, Brooklyn and Manhattan).
Beautiful views, they have a carousel for the little ones, but overall, I don't think it will ever be what was expected. Better off walking over the Brooklyn Bridge! Jacque Torres has his chocolate store there - that in itself isn't worth the schlepp to that neighborhood.
Not too much happening here but we were on a three day exploration of Brooklyn and this was a spot we had to see and enjoyed for a few hours. It is worth the visit for views of Manhattan, the Brooklyn and Williamsburg bridges, and coffee at the Brooklyn Roasting Co. Walk down to the river and take a $2 ride on the antique carousel - make sure you hop on a horse that goes up and down!
