We love to wander and pick up pieces for gifts. Fabulous blown glass, pottery and unique wall art. Go see for yourself, One of a kind treasures
I went to the Burlington art centre with my boyfriend on Valentine's weekend to continue a day long date. I loved that it was free and wanted to support the local art, but I was disappointed. The venue was small and didn't have much interesting art. I support that they showcase local talent but they should do a better job at selecting pieces. It's nice that they have an event venue but it was dated, had low ceilings in some areas and was uninspiring. The room I liked the most was the actual gallery show room, and although the photos were terrible the space was modern and a could be a great event space. Go to this place only if you are in the area and need to kill an hour.
The summer camps here are amazing. If your child has any interest in art this is a must. On my tour here I found it interesting and enjoyable. It is not huge but if your in the area i would go and see it.
I recently visited the show "Hot Mud", a national survey of contemporary Canadian emerging ceramicists. It was provocative and an excellent opportunity to see young talent.; a small catalogue is available. The BAC has an outstanding collection of Canadian ceramics and it is always a treat to see who is showing in any of the hallway exhibits or in the excellent shop. The shop also has a great selection of original glass, wood craft and jewellery. As it is a local art centre there are also exhibits of non-professional artists, which can be charming(or not very interesting). I tend to visit 2-3 times per year.
Such an enjoyable experience, well worth the effort to get their if your visiting the city or a resident.
Beautiful exhibit of hooked rugs. Also a 25th anniversary event of Japanese cultural. An interesting sculpture exhibit in the garden. A well appointed gift shop and plenty of comfortable seating area for resting between exhibits.
We have attended many events and enjoyed every one. The priced are very reasonable and shows very professional. The seating is comfortable and spacious. The box office staff is well informed and courteous.
We head to the gift shop every time we are in Burlington. The fine crafts are of high quality, and the volunteers staffing the store are lovely. We have also enjoyed the exhibits.
I love the artwork. It is wonderful to see the beautiful and creative works. I was at the Art Gallery several times in June. Art Etc is the best place to buy a special gift. I bought a present for a retiree and went to a reception for another retiree.
The Burlington Art Centre deserves to be seen. While there, you can view local artists at work. Then, you can go into the gift shop and buy beautiful Canadian handmade gifts. If you're hungry, you can visit the snack shop and enjoy the view of the waterfront in Burlington while nibbling on snacks and desserts. In the wintertime, I like to go into the tropical garden and enjoy looking at all the plants which are named for origin and place. Parking is at the side of the building.I wish they didn't charge for parking, as this is an art gallery for locals to enjoy.
